  • 112 Brevard College Student-Athletes Selected to USA South Academic All-Conference Team

    The USA South Conference announced its annual USA South Academic All-Conference list, selecting a school-record 112 Brevard College student-athletes as Academic All-Conference selections, part of a conference-record 1,702 overall selections. Brevard’s 112 selections onto the Academic All-Conference team gives the Tornados 21 more selections than the 2018-19 season, as BC ranks tied for sixth out of the 18 USA South institutions in overall selections. A total of 32 student-athletes earned “With Distinction” honors, a significant growth of 15 selections from last academic year. The BC men’s soccer program claimed the most selections onto the Academic All-Conference team with 16, as every single team at Brevard was recognized by the USA South. In order to be selected to the USA South Academic All-Conference team, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.30 GPA in each of the two semesters in the academic year to be eligible. Any student-athlete participating at any Conference institution is eligible thus the participant does not have to compete in a Conference-sponsored sport. Additionally, any student-athlete earning a 3.90 GPA or above earned the All-Academic honor "With Distinction".

    Senior Micaiah Vacchiano, a four-year member of the Brevard College Women’s Lacrosse team, is the next honoree in BC Athletics' Spring Senior Profile series, highlighting and honoring 2020 seniors in Spring sports who had their respective seasons cut short due to the impact of COVID-19. Vacchiano, a native of Sebastian, Florida, graduated from Brevard College with a Bachelor’s degree in Health and Human Science, with two minors in Criminal Justice and Biology. Vacchiano’s post-graduation plans include taking a gap year to gain more clinical experience by working as an Emergency Medical Technician before going to graduate school to become a Physician Assistant.

    Senior attacker Kelly Wilkins, a member of the Brevard College Women’s Lacrosse program for three seasons, is the next honoree in BC Athletics’ Spring Senior Profile series, highlighting and honoring 2020 seniors in Spring sports who had their respective seasons cut short due to the impact of COVID-19. Wilkins, a native of Denver, N.C., graduated from Brevard with a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science with minors in Psychology and Criminal Justice. Her future plans include becoming a doctor of Physical Therapy and to pursue a career to work with United States Marines who were injured in the line of duty, with the goal of returning them to active duty.
  • Spring Senior Profile: Cameron Ranslow #ThankYouSeniors

    Senior attacker Cameron Ranslow, a member of the Brevard College Women’s Lacrosse team for two seasons, is the next honoree in BC Athletics’ Spring Senior Profile series, highlighting and honoring 2020 seniors in Spring sports who had their respective seasons cut short due to the impact of COVID-19. Ranslow, a native of Greenville, South Carolina, will graduate from Brevard with a Bachelor’s degree in English with an emphasis in Literary Studies and Teacher Licensure. Following graduation, Ranslow plans to teach high school English in her hometown of Greenville for at least a year before pursuing graduate-level education. The senior attacker appeared in 15 career games and made 10 total starts over her two playing seasons for the Tornados. In BC’s lone victory at home against Johnson & Wales University – Denver, Ranslow scooped up her first-career ground ball.

O’Connor, a native of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, will graduate from Brevard College with a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice.

    Senior defender Tabor Ryan, a four-year member of the Brevard College Women’s Lacrosse team, is the next honoree in BC Athletics’ Spring Senior Profile series, highlighting and honoring 2020 seniors in Spring sports who had their respective seasons cut short due to the impact of COVID-19. Ryan, a native of North East, Maryland, will graduate from Brevard with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Health & Human Science with a double minor in Biology and Natural History. Following graduation, Ryan plans to attend graduate school to pursue a Master’s degree in Veterinary Medicine.

  • Brevard College, USA South Conclude Spring Sports as Response to COVID-19

    After careful consideration in the wake of nationwide cancellations and postponements in the intercollegiate and professional sports landscape as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States, and in the best interest of the health and well-being of student-athletes, family, staff, and fans, the USA South Athletic Conference has announced the conclusion of the 2020 Spring regular season. This also extends to all USA South Conference championships and the 2020 USA South Spring Sports Festival, originally scheduled for April 23-26 in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. As a result of this news, and in alignment with the USA South and the NCAA, the Brevard College Department of Athletics will be suspending all athletic-related activity - including competitions, practices, and travel – for the remainder of the 2020 Spring semester. This extends out to current Spring sports in their traditional season of competition as well as Fall sports entering into their non-traditional practice seasons. The cancellation of all athletically-related activities includes Brevard College's non-NCAA sports of Cycling, Climbing, and Competitive Cheer & Dance, while also extending to the use of on-campus athletic facilities such as the weight room and gymnasiums, among other areas.
  • Meredith Controls Conference Contest Over Brevard

    Freshman attacker Autumn Kraemer continued the fast start to her collegiate career with a goal, while Micaiah Vacchiano and KC Collins also scored, but the Brevard College women’s lacrosse team (1-4, 0-2 USAS) couldn’t keep pace in a 20-3 conference defeat at the hands of five-time USA South Women’s Lacrosse Tournament champion Meredith College (2-4, 2-0 USAS) on Sunday in Raleigh, North Carolina.  Goalkeeper Carlie Henning (1-4) recorded eight total saves in the contest. Allyson Brigham and Hannah Scharf logged assists in the Tornados’ offense.  The host Avenging Angels scored the contest’s first goal before Kraemer answered immediately back with a free-position score of her own to knot the score at 1-1. Meredith went on to score the 17-straight goals to close out the first half, taking an 18-1 lead into the halftime break.
  • Monarchs Escape Tornados in Conference Opener

    Autumn Kraemer led Brevard College with six goals, however, the BC women’s lacrosse team (1-3, 0-1 USAS) were unable to catch the Methodist University Monarchs (2-2, 1-0 USAS), as the Tornados fell by a final of 14-11 on Saturday afternoon at Monarch Stadium in Fayetteville, North Carolina.  Kraemer, a freshman from Stewartstown, Pennsylvania, scored a total of six goals and dished out an assist for seven points altogether. The attacker has now totaled 23 goals and three assists for 26 points through the first four games of the 2020 campaign.  Micaiah Vacchiano and KC Collins each scored a pair of goals, while Collins recorded a pair of assists. In the last two games for Brevard, Collins has produced eight goals and six assists. Freshman goalkeeper Carlie Henning saved 10 shots in the contest. 
  • BC WLAX Kicks Off Conference Play in Fayetteville & Raleigh this Weekend

    Fresh off its first victory of the 2020 season, the Brevard College women’s lacrosse team (1-2) opens up USA South Conference action this weekend when the Tornados face off against Methodist University (1-2) and five-time defending USA South Women’s Lacrosse Tournament Champion Meredith College (0-3).  The Tornados will square off with Methodist at 12 p.m. on Saturday in Fayetteville, North Carolina before closing the weekend out on Sunday against Methodist in Raleigh, North Carolina, with an 11 a.m. first draw. On Wednesday evening at Ives-Lemel Family Field in BC’s home opener, freshman attacker Autumn Kraemercontinued the hot start to her collegiate career, tying the single-game program record for goals scored with nine. 
  • Kraemer Ties Program Record, Tornados Rout Wildcats in Home Opener

    Freshman attacker Autumn Kraemer continued the hot start to her collegiate career, tying the single-game program record for goals scored (nine) as the Brevard College women’s lacrosse team (1-2) earned its first victory of 2020 in dominant fashion, defeating the visiting Johnson & Wales University (Denver) Wildcats (0-3), 19-8, on Wednesday evening at Ives-Lemel Family Field. Kraemer’s nine-goal performance was the third time that a BC women’s lacrosse player has scored nine goals in a single game. The Stewartstown, Pennsylvania native joins Caitlyn Nemeth (April 1, 2015 vs. Lees-McRae) and Nina Siu (March 7, 2018 vs. Felician) as the only Tornados to reach the nine-goal plateau. KC Collins bolstered Brevard’s offensive attack with a six-goal, three-assist performance for a career-high nine points. Collins’ six goals marked the first six career scores for the Marietta, Georgia native’s career. The sophomore attacker/goalkeeper started all 16 games last season in goal for the Tornados and has started this year’s first three contests in the field. Collins’ nine points in Wednesday’s contest are tied for the fifth-most single-game points in BC’s program history.
  • Women’s Lacrosse Announces Home Schedule Change

    The Brevard College women’s lacrosse team has announced a change to its 2020 home schedule slate at Ives-Lemel Family Field.  LaGrange College has suspended its 2020 season due to low roster numbers and has forced a schedule alteration for the Tornados. In lieu of BC’s originally scheduled home-opener on Saturday, February 29, the Tornados will now welcome Johnson & Wales University - Denver to Brevard, North Carolina on Wednesday, March 4 at 6 p.m. Stay tuned to bctornados.com and the official social media channels of Brevard College Tornados Athletics for future schedule change information. 
  • Berry Pulls Away Late from Brevard in Season Opener

    Freshman attacker Autumn Kraemer led all Tornados with five goals, but the Brevard College women’s lacrosse team (0-1) fell by a final of 15-12 on the road against Berry College (1-2) in the Tornados’ season-opening contest on Saturday evening in Mount Berry, Georgia.  Kraemer, a freshman from Stewartstown, Pa., scored five of BC’s 12 total goals on 10 shots-on-goal. Returning sophomore midfielder Hannah Scharf added three scores, while senior Micaiah Vacchiano and freshman Savannah Colliver each scored twice. Colliver dished our Brevard’s lone assist in the contest.  Making her first career start in goal, freshman goalkeeper Carlie Henning recorded four total saves. 
  • Brevard vs. Truett McConnell Set for February 18 at 2 p.m.

    The Brevard College women’s lacrosse team has announced a change to its 2020 schedule. The Tornados will now travel to Cleveland, Georgia to take on Truett McConnell University on Tuesday, February 18 at 2 p.m. The non-conference contest was originally scheduled for the following day.   • Women’s Lacrosse Selected Ninth in Preseason Poll

    The Brevard College women’s lacrosse team was selected to finish in ninth place in the annual USA South Conference Preseason Coaches’ Poll.  Defending champion Meredith College claimed preseason favorites after receiving 11 first-place votes and 121 total points in the poll. Pfeiffer University placed second in the tabulation by receiving one first-place vote and 101 points. Pfeiffer and Brevard are in their final season of NCAA DIII transition and are ineligible for the USA South Women’s Lacrosse Tournament, but both have the opportunity to enter the ECAC Women’s Lacrosse Championships at the conclusion of the regular season, depending on overall final record.
  • Women’s Lacrosse Announces Slate of Opponents for 2020

    Head Coach Kristen Rosato has announced the schedule for the Brevard College Women’s Lacrosse program for the upcoming 2020 Spring season.  Brevard’s 2020 calendar features six home regular-season dates as well as one exhibition contest at Ives-Lemel Family Field. The Tornados will compete in 15 total regular-season competitions, 11 of which being USA South Conference competitions.  “We have a young, talented group of athletes that have set high expectations for the upcoming season,” commented Rosato on Brevard’s upcoming 2020 season. “There are no easy games on our schedule, so we will have to be diligent in our preparation. This team has all of the qualities to be successful and I am looking forward to debuting that on February 1.”
