BREVARD, N.C. - The Brevard College Women's Lacrosse team (6-8, 3-6 USAS) dropped a contest to USA South Conference-leading Meredith College (13-4, 9-0 USAS) on Saturday at Ives-Lemel Family Field.

The Tornados scored two goals against the formidable Avenging Angels, as Micaiah Vacchiano and Hannah Scharf each found the back of the net.

Vacchiano scored just six minutes into the game on an unassisted strike to put the Tornados on the board. It marked the team-best 35th goal and 38th point of the season for the junior from Sebastian, Florida.

Scharf delivered her 20th goal of the season with 21 minutes left in regulation.

Meredith took a 7-0 lead in the game's first five minutes of the contest. Following Vacchiano's goal, the Avenging Angels reeled off 11 unanswered goals to take a 17-1 lead into halftime.

The second half was less one-sided, with the Avenging Angels outscoring the Tornados 6-1 en route to the 24-2 final.

Meredith was led by Julie Capretti, who tallied eight points (five assists, three goals) along with Olivia Blake and Maya Flake, who each scored four goals.

The Tornados will return to action vs. William Peace University. The game, originally scheduled for Sunday, April 14, has been postponed due to severe weather.  Date, time, and location of the rescheduled contest, as well as Senior Day ceremony specifics, are still to be determined.
