LAGRANGE, Ga. - Micaiah Vacchiano tallied a game-high five goals as the Brevard College Tornados Women's Lacrosse team (5-3, 2-1 USAS) picked up its second USA South Conference victory with a 10-8 victory at LaGrange College (0-3, 0-3 USAS) on Saturday afternoon.

The Tornados held a late lead, 9-5, with 9:51 left in the match before the Panthers scored three-straight unanswered goals, cutting BC's lead to 9-8 with just 3:47 left to play. Vacchiano, BC's leading scorer in 2019, scored a critical goal with 1:40 left to play to help the Tornados escape with the slim two-goal victory, 10-8.

Hannah Scharf added three goals to BC's efforts, while Hunter Denney added two goals and an assist.

Katherine Collins (5-3) recorded seven saves on 15 shots faced to lead BC's defensive efforts. Jezika Gunter tallied four ground balls, while Vacchiano added three to BC's total.

LaGrange spread its offensive attack out, as six different Panthers found the back of the net. LaGrange's Davida White racked up three goals and three assists to lead the Panthers' attack.

White opened scoring up just 30 seconds into the game, scoring to give LaGrange a 1-0 lead. Brevard answered back with 26:09 left in the first half, tying the match at 1-1.

Both teams traded goals over the next five minutes with the contest deadlocked at 2-2. Vacchiano converted a power play for Brevard's tying goal.

The Panthers then made back-to-back goals to hold a 4-2 lead at the 18:27 mark.

Brevard then embarked on its largest scoring run of the contest, scoring four goals in the last 15 minutes of the first half to carry a 6-4 lead into the halftime intermission.

LaGrange's White once again opened a half up with a goal, scoring just 27 seconds into the second stanza to cut BC's lead to 6-5.

Denney and Scharf sparked a BC scoring streak midway through the second half, scoring three unanswered goals to take a 9-5 lead behind two Scharf goals and one Denney goal.

The Panthers would answer right back with three unanswered goals of their own to cut the Tornados' advantage to 9-8. However, a key Vacchiano goal paired with solid defense down the stretch clinched Brevard's fifth win of the 2019 season, downing the LaGrange Panthers, 10-8.

The Tornados converted one of their four free position attempts while snagging 10 ground balls and claiming eight draw controls.

Brevard faces a quick turnaround as it heads to Montgomery, Alabama to face the Huntingdon Hawks (1-6, 0-3 USAS) on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. ET.
