Tornados Complete Five-Game Home Stand Versus LaGrange

BREVARD, N.C. – The Brevard women's lacrosse team is in search of back-to-back wins for the first time in two seasons when it hosts LaGrange at 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 17, at Ives-Lemel Field.

The Tornados are fresh off a 20-4 downing of N.C. Wesleyan at home on Sunday, March 11, their most recent of three 20-goal outings this season. Brevard last posted consecutive victories in April 2016, when it downed Catawba (11-10) and Montreat (25-2) on April 8 and April 12.

Five Tornados have tallied double-digit goals this season, including Nina Siu (36), Victoria Hayes (29), Micaiah Vacchiano (13), Kelly Kearnan (11) and Hunter Denney (11). Siu is also the team's leader in total points (45), with nine assists to her credit, while Kearnan is responsible for the most assists (11).

Defensively, the Tornados are led by goalkeeper Shelby Arsenault, who has 77 saves (.400 save percentage) to her credit this season. The multi-dimensional Kearnan is responsible for a team-best 27 ground balls this season, two more than Arsenault.

LaGrange (3-6) is in the midst of a four-game losing streak that began with a 21-10 setback to Piedmont on Feb. 28. The Panthers have been outscored 91-60 during the stretch, surrendering at least 20 goals to Piedmont, Greensboro (March 10) and most recently Birmingham-Southern (March 14).

The Panthers are led offensively by the tandem of Madeline LaCavera and Davida White, who have scored 34 and 24 goals, respectively. Rachael Thomas and Eva Tallent have also topped double figure goals with 17 apiece and Brie Shepler rounds out the team with 15 strikes.

Both Cierra Towe and Dominique Desautels have spent significant time in goal for the Panthers this season. Towe leads the team in saves (41) and is responsible for all three wins, while Desautels has made 27 stops in 195 minutes of action.
