Rhyne Top Finisher at Converse Spring Invite

ROEBUCK, S.C. – Senior Kelsie Rhyne fired a two-day score of 187 (96-91, +43) and finished in 41st to lead the way for the Brevard women's golf team at the Converse Spring Invite that concluded Tuesday afternoon.

Taylor Scovel finished three shots back from Rhyne after posting rounds of 101 and 89 (190, +46) in succession, placing 44th at the par 72, 5,881-yard Carolina Country Club course.

Sophomore Courtney Sharp carded a 214 in the first event of the spring, shooting rounds of 104 and 110 (+70) to finish in 47th. Meanwhile teammate Ashley Holland finished with a 215 (107-108, +71) to round out Brevard competitors, placing 48th.

Brevard wrapped up the event ninth as a team with a score of 806 (408-398, +230), while Lee University (304-315—619, +43) brought home the team title. Host Converse finished second with a two-day score of 642 (332-310, +66) while Anderson finished third, three shots behind the Valkyries.

Limestone's Reme Cortez (71-74—145, +1) brought home the individual crown, while Tyler Dawson (Converse) and Rachel McMahan (Trevecca Nazarene) tied for second with a 152 (+8).

Brevard makes its return to the course next week when the Tornados compete in the Mars Hill Invitational on Feb. 26-27.
