BREVARD, N.C. – The 2019-20 Brevard College Tornados women's basketball team, under the direction of fourth-year Head Coach Donald Hudson, has announced its 2019-20 schedule.

The Tornados, who are coming off their second-consecutive double-digit winning season, are slated to play a total of 26 games – 24 regular-season games and two exhibitions at NCAA DI institutions. Brevard is scheduled to play 13 home games – eight of which being USA South Conference contests – and 16 total conference games.

"We are so excited to start another season and see where it takes us," stated Coach Hudson on the upcoming season. "This group returns a ton of experienced players and we will lean heavily on our 10 returners to set the tone every day in practice. They all have spent significant time in our program and understand what a privilege it is to put on the Brevard jersey. I expect them to push this group and get the best out of everyone on a day to day basis."

The Tornados begin their 2019-20 campaign with a home non-conference doubleheader vs. Toccoa Falls College on Tuesday, November 12. Brevard's women's team will square off with the Screaming Eagles at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men who tip-off at approx. 7:30 p.m.

Brevard will then hit the road for a road test vs. NCAA DIII Berry College on Thursday, November 14 at 6 p.m. in Mount Berry, Georgia. The Tornados and Vikings have matched up in each of the last two seasons, with the Tornados taking both games.

BC heads back home to the Boshamer Gymnasium for back-to-back non-conference games against Methodist University (Sunday, November 17; 3 p.m.) and Bob Jones University (Tuesday, November 19; 5:30 p.m.) before trekking to Misenheimer, North Carolina to face Pfeiffer University on Saturday, November 23 at 2 p.m.

The Tornados conclude the month of November by opening up conference action at home against LaGrange College on Saturday, November 30 at 2 p.m. at the Boshamer Gymnasium. Brevard and LaGrange split their season series in the 2018-19 campaign.

December opens up with a Monday, December 2 contest between local Western North Carolina-area opponents Brevard and Warren Wilson College. The two institutions will battle at the Boshamer Gymnasium, with tip-off slated for 6 p.m.

The Tornados will then return to conference action for three-straight matchups in conference competition. Brevard first travels to Maryville, Tennessee for a game vs. Maryville College on Wednesday, December 4 at 6 p.m. before returning home to play Wesleyan College on Saturday, December 7 at 2 p.m. Following a week away from game action, the Tornados will travel to Berea, Kentucky for a conference game vs. Berea College on Saturday, December 14 at 2 p.m.

The month of December concludes for Brevard College on Saturday, December 21 as the Tornados head to Clinton, South Carolina for an exhibition contest against DI Presbyterian College at 2 p.m. Last season, Brevard matched up with Presbyterian's fellow conference member USC-Upstate.

Following the New Year, Brevard concludes exhibition play against DI Southern Conference member Wofford College on Thursday, December 2 at 2 p.m. in Spartanburg, South Carolina at the Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium. The game will mark the third-straight season that the Tornados and Terriers have faced off against one another.

Brevard then returns to conference action, playing a stretch of nine-consecutive conference contests. This stretch kicks off with a road trip to Montgomery, Alabama where BC will face Huntingdon College on Saturday, January 4 at 2 p.m. ET. The Tornados will make a pit stop at home to play Agnes Scott College on Wednesday, January 8 at 7:30 p.m. before concluding their two-game season series vs. Wesleyan on the road in Macon, Georgia on Friday, January 10 at 6 p.m.

Brevard rounds out January by playing four out of five games within the friendly confines of the Boshamer Gymnasium. The Tornados host Maryville (Tuesday, January 14; 6 p.m.) and Berea (Saturday, January 18; 2 p.m) before traveling to Demorest, Georgia for their first contest of the season against Piedmont on Wednesday, January 22 at 6 p.m. The Tornados end the month with home dates vs. Huntingdon (Saturday, January 25; 2 p.m.) and Covenant College (Tuesday, January 28; 5:30 p.m.).

Brevard then embarks on its last road trip of the season - a four-game stretch that begins the season's final month. Brevard faces LaGrange (Saturday, February 1; 2 p.m.; LaGrange, Georgia), Bob Jones (Tuesday, February 4; 7 p.m.; Greenville, South Carolina), Agnes Scott (Friday, February 7; 6 p.m.; Decatur, Georgia) and Covenant (Saturday, February 8; 2 p.m.; Lookout Mountain, Georgia) on the road all within the span of seven days.

The Tornados conclude their 2019-20 regular season with back-to-back home contests. Brevard first faces Piedmont on Wednesday, February 12 at 6 p.m. at the Boshamer Gymnasium to wrap up conference play before playing its Senior Day competition on Saturday, February 15 at 2 p.m. vs. Pfeiffer.

"I'm really excited about this group of upperclassmen.," added Coach Hudson on his outlook for the 2019-20 season. "We were able to add four players to our family this summer that will help this team get to another level - Mekindia Martin (freshman) Hannah Lovett (freshman) Melvia Seymore (sophomore) and Elaina Perez (senior) - they all bring something to the table that will be an asset to our squad. We are going to miss Annalee Bollinger and Jatasha Hollinger, but we have players that are excited to step into those roles and fill their shoes."

The 2018-19 Tornados team reached the double-digit win plateau (10 wins) for just the second time in the program's NCAA-era history. Brevard returns four of its five starters from last season, including point guard Ty'She Washington (10.1 ppg, 4.5 rpg) and forward Destiny Williams (11.8 ppg, 5.6 rpg).

"As it is every year, this team will be built on the defensive end," added Coach Hudson. "We have to make sure that we are in great shape physically and mentally. We want to make it tough on opposing teams to score the basketball. If we can defend at a high level, this can be a good season for us. Assistant Coach Taylor Hiatt and I are ready to watch this team grow. Coach Hiatt will be by my side going into our fourth year together and I could not ask for a better person to work with. I appreciate everything she does for our program and I'm honored to attack another season with her on staff."

Brevard kicks off its 2019-20 campaign with the Tornados' first practice on Tuesday, October 15.
