Bollinger Nets 15 in Exhibition Setback to Wofford

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Jamari McDavid scored a game-high 22 points and teammates Jamie Grob and Hannah Morgan contributed 11 points apiece as Wofford earned an 85-46 victory over Brevard in an women's basketball exhibition contest for the Tornados on Monday evening.

The Terriers (9-10) finished the game by hitting 26-of-65 (40%) from the field and 27-of-30 (90%) at the free throw line. Wofford also took advantage of a 39-7 edge in bench scoring and a 21-5 edge in points off turnovers.

McDavid, the lone player on the Terrier roster with more than three field goals, finished 10-of-12 from the floor and knocked down two free throws. Morgan overcame a difficult outing from the field (1-6) to finish 8-for-8 at the charity stripe. Grob was also successful at the free throw line, hitting 5-of-6, while adding four rebounds and one steal.

Annalee Bollinger topped all Brevard (8-5) scorers with 15 points, finishing 5-of-19 from the field with all five field goals coming from 3-point range. The junior guard also handed our four assists and forced one steal.

Also coming through with solid offensive outings for the Tornados were Kelsie Rhyne (seven points), Jade Napier (seven) and Destiny Williams (six). That trio each finished with three field goals in the game as Brevard finished 19-of-62 from the floor and was held without a free throw attempt over the course of the contest.

The Tornados enjoyed a 17-point third quarter as they finished 5-of-17 from the floor in the frame. Bollinger opened scoring with a long distance 3-pointer for the Tornados with a 3-pointer to open play and teammate Whitney DeMoss put herself in the books with back-to-back layups.

Bollinger drained her second trey of the quarter at the 5:32 mark, making for a 54-27 Wofford lead, before connecting on her third from beyond the arc just over a minute later. Rhyne and Williams added scored the final two points of the half for the Tornados who trailed 66-34 through three.

Bailey Ray provided a spark for the Tornados offense with a 3-pointer to open the fourth quarter. That was followed by a jumper by Shakirah Thompson and Bollinger's fifth 3-pointer of the contest as Brevard trailed 73-42 with 6:11 left.

Williams was responsible for the final two Brevard field goals of the contest as Wofford completed the victory at the Richardson Indoor Stadium.

The Terriers scored the first bucket of the second before Napier knocked down a jumper for the first Brevard points at the 9:26 mark before adding the first 3-pointer just over a minute later. Rhyne slithered through the lane, adding a layup for the Tornados, which was followed by scores from Deja Riddick and Napier the Terriers had a 42-11 advantage.

Brevard scored six of the final eight points of the quarter, taking advantage of 3-pointers by Bollinger and Rhyne, to make for a 44-17 lead at the break for the Terriers.

Wofford held the Tornados scoreless throughout the first quarter, establishing a 23-0 lead, after hitting 9-of-17 from the field and 3-of-4 from the free throw line.

Brevard returns to action on Saturday when it travels to Agnes Scott for a 2 p.m. clash with the Scotties.
