BEREA, Ky. - The Brevard College Tornados Track & Field team competed in the USA South Conference Track & Field Championships on April 18-19 in Berea, Kentucky.

Several Tornado student-athletes finished amongst the conference's top performers, setting personal bests along the way.

On Thursday, April 18, BC's Jamerial Parks and CJ Walton both ran qualifying times for the next day's 100 Meter Dash finals. In Thursday's prelims, Parks ran an 11.04, while Walton finished in 11.07. These times ranked seventh and eighth, respectively, out of 34 total participants.

Brevard's Ke'Vel Kingsberry jumped 5.92 meters in the Men's Long Jump on Thursday, setting a new personal best.

The Tornados enjoyed success in Friday's events as well. In the 4x100 Meter Relay, BC's team of Parks, Walton, Quentin Jackson, and Eddie Dean placed second with a time of 43.19, just .65 off of the winners from William Peace University.

Gavin Morgan continued his stellar freshman season by setting a new personal record in the Men's 5000 Meter Run, finishing with a time of 15:48.74, good enough for sixth place out of 25 participants.

Brevard's throwers ranked amongst the top in the conference individually in Friday's events. On the Women's side, Ashley Jones placed fifth in the Shot Put, throwing for 10.33 meters. The Men's Shot Put saw two Tornados place in the top 10. Gabriel Covington 10.63 meters ranked ninth, while Kyle Fennell's 13.09 meters was good enough for a second place podium finish, just .18 off of first.

Fennell (31.15 meters, 5th place), Covington (29.97 meters, 7th place), and Ari Drake (31.33 meters, 4th place) found success in the Men's Discus Throw event as well to round out Brevard's top performers at the USA South Track & Field Championships.

Covington and Mackenzie Lautenschlager were both named to the USA South Track & Field All-Sportsmanship team as part of the conference's postseason honors following the conclusion of this week's event.
