The Brevard track & field team earned 16 top 10 finishes in the Atlantic Independent Track & Field Championships that concluded on April 28th in Berea, Ky. Two Tornados, Rhyanna Haden (women’s shot put) and Joseph Roberts (men’s shot put), reached the podium with third place finishes.
The Brevard track & field team wrapped up the 2018 Catamount Classic with 10 finishes inside the top 30, including a 13th place outing by Michal Phillips in the triple jump in the final tune-up for the Tornados before the Atlantic Independent Track & Field Championships on April 27-28.
Competing in its fourth event in the last four weekends, the Brevard track & field team heads to Central S.C. on Friday to take part in the Susan Rouse Invitational, hosted by Southern Wesleyan University.
The Brevard track & field team took part in the Montreat Invitational over the weekend, earning 17 top 25 finishes along the way, including Michael Anton and Rhyanna Haden who finished ninth in the men’s 800 meter run and the women’s shot put, respectively.
Brevard’s track and field team heads to Rock Hill, S.C., for a three-day meet that is hosted by Winthrop University at the Irwin Belk Track & Field Complex, featuring 30 teams and approximately 900 athletes.
Brevard track and field teams will head to Charlotte for the 49er Classic this weekend. The team returns to action for the first time since the Southern Indoor Challenge in Birmingham, Ala., last month.
Among those six top 10 finishers was Adam Spencer, who finished fourth in the 60 meter dash in a time of 7.39. Joseph Roberts also put together a solid performance for the Tornados, finishing sixth in the shot put with a toss of 11.30 meters.
