  • School-Record 129 Tornados Named Academic All-Conference

    A school-record 129 Brevard College student-athletes have been named 2020-21 USA South Academic All-Conference selections. Thirty one of the 128 BC student-athletes also earned “With Distinction” honors for superior academic achievement.

  • Softball Concludes 2021 Season in Doubleheader vs. Huntingdon

    The Brevard College softball team (7-13, 6-8 USAS) concluded its 2021 season on Sunday afternoon at the BC Softball Field, hosting Huntingdon College (16-16, 11-3) in a USA South Conference doubleheader. The Hawks of Huntingdon upended the Tornados 10-2 in the first contest before taking the second game, 14-3.
  • Tornados Pull Away in Game Two to Split Doubleheader with Scots

    The Brevard College softball team (7-11, 6-6 USAS) rebounded from a game one loss, pulling away late to salvage a doubleheader split on the road at Maryville College (6-18, 5-9 USAS) on Friday afternoon in Maryville, Tennessee. Brevard claimed a 7-4 victory in the second contest after falling by a final of 8-4 in game number one.
  • Scotties Come From Behind, Walk-Off Twice in Sweep of Tornados

    The Brevard College softball team (6-10, 5-5 USAS) dropped a pair of heartbreaking contests to the Agnes Scott College Scotties (5-9, 5-7 USAS), as the Tornados fell in both contests in a USA South Conference doubleheader at Oakhurst Park on Wednesday afternoon in Decatur, Georgia. The Tornados built up a 9-2 advantage in game one before Agnes Scott tallied seven runs in the seventh inning to tie the ballgame and walk-off in the bottom of the eighth inning, winning by a final of 10-9. Emily White slugged her fourth home run of 2021 to highlight BC’s offensive efforts in game number two before a 5-3 advantage was erased in the game’s final inning, as Agnes Scott rallied off three runs to clinch their second-consecutive walk-off victory, 6-5.
  • Softball Announces Schedule Adjustments in Final Week of Regular Season

    The Brevard College softball team has announced schedule adjustments as it heads into its final week of regular-season competition.  The Tornados are first scheduled to travel to Decatur, Georgia to face Agnes Scott College on Wednesday at 3 and 5 p.m. BC will then head to Maryville, Tennessee for a USA South Conference doubleheader with the Scots on Friday at 2 and 4 p.m. The Tornados will then close out their regular season on Sunday with a doubleheader at the BC Softball Field against Huntingdon College at 12 and 2 p.m.
  • Brevard Sweeps Senior Day Doubleheader

    Honoring its 2021 senior class of Brittany Franks, Ali Grace Hartman, Micayla McCoy, and Emily White, the Brevard College softball team (6-8, 5-3 USAS) swept a USA South Conference doubleheader against LaGrange College (3-7, 2-6 USAS) on a sunny Sunday afternoon at the BC Softball Field. After falling behind early, 3-0 in game one, BC stormed back with 10 unanswered runs to take the first contest by a final of 10-3 as BC’s offense accumulated 12 hits behind a complete-game performance from McCoy.  Brevard opened up an early 5-0 lead and held off LaGrange by scoring five runs in innings 4-6 to claim the doubleheader sweep with a 10-5 triumph. Hartman earned the complete-game victory in the circle for the Tornados, hurling seven innings surrendering just one earned run with five strikeouts.
  • Brevard College Softball vs. LaGrange, Senior Day Moved to Sunday

    Due to potential inclement weather, the Brevard College vs. LaGrange softball doubleheader originally scheduled for this Saturday will now be played on Sunday, April 18. First pitch for game one of the doubleheader between the Tornados and the Panthers is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET on Sunday at the BC Softball Field on the campus of Brevard College.

    Hosting its first home contest in over a month at the BC Softball Field, the Brevard College softball team (4-8, 3-3 USAS) earned a USA South Conference doubleheader split against Covenant College (16-14, 5-3 USAS) on a sunny Wednesday afternoon on the campus of Brevard College.

  • Softball Series vs. Huntingdon Postponed Due to Inclement Weather

    Due to the continued threat of inclement weather in the Brevard area, this weekend’s four-game series vs. Huntingdon College at the BC Softball Field has been postponed. The two institutions will work on a makeup date for the USA South Conference contests. The Tornados are scheduled to return to action on Thursday and Friday, April 1-2 when Brevard heads to Demorest, Georgia to take on Piedmont College.
  • Tornados Drop Pair in Non-Conference Play at Wesleyan

    The Brevard College softball team (3-5, 2-0 USAS) dropped both games of a non-conference doubleheader on Sunday at host Wesleyan (5-13, 1-3 USAS) in Macon, Georgia.  The Tornados fell 10-1 in game one, before a 7-5 defeat in Sunday’s second game.  The two teams played a USA South Conference twin bill on Sunday, with BC winning both games that counted toward league records.
  • Tornados Edge Wolves in Conference-Opening Doubleheader Sweep

    The Brevard College softball team (3-3, 2-0 USAS) earned a doubleheader sweep over Wesleyan College (3-13, 1-3 USAS) on Saturday afternoon in the Tornados' conference-opening contests in Macon, Georgia.  The Tornados used a complete-game shutout from senior pitcher Micayla McCoy to earn a tight, 1-0 victory before coming back from an early deficit in game two, using a three-run third inning to edge the Wolves, 3-2. 
  • Brevard Softball Travels to Wesleyan for Four Weekend Contests

    The Brevard College softball team (1-3) opens its conference schedule this weekend when the Tornados head to Macon, Georgia to face Wesleyan College (3-11, 1-1 USAS) in four consecutive contests. The Tornados and Wolves will meet on Saturday in a conference doubleheader at 1 and 3 p.m., with the two sides facing off in non-conference action on Sunday at 1 and 3 p.m.  Live video for all matchups will be provided here, courtesy of Wesleyan College, with live statistics on bctornados.com.  Brevard was last in action back on Saturday, March 6, when the Tornados split their home-opening doubleheader vs. Carolina University at the BC Softball Field. The win marked the first of the season for the Tornados and the first victory under the guidance of Head Coach Bre Shearin. The Tornados came-from-behind after trailing 4-0 to take the win. BC scored eight unanswered runs between the fourth and sixth innings to secure the comeback victory.
  • Softball Pre-Conference Poll Released

    The USA South Conference has released its Pre-Conference Poll for Softball, tabbing the Tornados seventh in the USA South West Division. Each divisional poll only includes votes from coaches within that particular division-only. Head coaches do not vote for their own teams in the balloting. The 2021 USA South Softball Tournament will take place on campus sites. Due to the ramifications stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic, the tournament field will be reduced to four total teams. The top-two teams from each division following regular season play will advance to the tournament.
  • Softball Comes from Behind for First Win of 2021

    The Brevard College softball team (1-3) earned its first win of the 2021 season in a doubleheader split with non-conference foe Carolina University (3-7) on Saturday at the BC Softball Field.  Brevard won the first game of the doubleheader, 9-5, before dropping game two of the twin bill by the score of 6-1. The win marked the first of the season for the Tornados and the first victory under the guidance of Head Coach Bre Shearin.  Prior to the doubleheader, the BC Softball program honored the 18 female staff members who work in the Brevard College Department of Athletics with a ceremonial first pitch in celebration of Women’s History Month.
  • Brevard Welcomes Carolina University for Home-Opener on Saturday

    The Brevard College softball team (0-2) will hold its home opener on Saturday when the Tornados host Carolina University (2-4) for a doubleheader at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m at the BC Softball Field.  The games will mark the return to play for the Tornados on the BC Softball Field for the first time since April 23rd, 2016, the exclusive home of the BC softball team located on the Brevard College campus.
  • Spectator Guidelines for Brevard College Outdoor Sports in Spring, 2021

    Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Brevard College has established spectator guidelines for Spring 2021 home, outdoor athletic events. The updated guidelines are in accordance with the adjusted outdoor spectator policy announced by the USA South Conference on February 23. 2021. These regulations apply to the sports of baseball, football, men’s lacrosse, women’s lacrosse, men’s soccer, women’s soccer, softball, men’s tennis and women’s tennis at Brevard College.

    The Presidents of the USA South Athletic Conference have agreed to adjust the Conference's policy on spectators attending any outdoor sporting event hosted by a USA South institution regardless of opponent.
  • Falcons Take Season-Opening Doubleheader from Tornados

    The Brevard College softball team (0-2) made its long-awaited season debut against fellow USA South Conference member Pfeiffer University (2-2), falling in both games of the doubleheader on Saturday afternoon in Misenheimer, North Carolina. Micayla McCoy (0-1) led the Tornados offensively in game one, driving in Brevard’s lone run on an RBI-double that scored Emily White. McCoy finished the first contest 2-for-3 at the plate while also starting in the circle for the Tornados, logging a pair of strikeouts in six innings pitched. White paced Brevard in the second game of the twin billing, as the senior infielder drilled a two-run homer over the left-field wall in the top of the first inning. The Shelby, North Carolina native went 2-for-2, driving in all three of Brevard’s runs in game two, as White added an RBI-single to her ledger in the top of the fifth inning.
  • Softball Slate of Opponents Set for 2021 Campaign, Opens Season Saturday at Pfeiffer

    The Brevard College softball program, under first-year Head Coach Bre Shearin, has set its schedule for the upcoming 2021 Spring season of competition. BC’s softball schedule features a total of 28 contests, with 10 home contests at the Brevard College Softball Field and 14 matchups in-conference, played against USA South West Division opponents. “Everyone on the team is extremely excited and anxious to start this season,” commented Coach Shearin on the upcoming 2021 Spring schedule. “We have some jitters to work out but luckily I was able to load us up with really competitive opponents before we hit conference play. Due to the pandemic, everything this year is at a faster pace and we have a shorter time to prepare, so we are getting into the thick of it right out the gate. The team is more than ready - our energy, focus, and team chemistry are right where we need it to be before playing the season-opener at Pfeiffer on Saturday. The team is locked in and ready to get started!”
  • Spectator Policy Announced for Brevard College Outdoor Sports

    As a safety measure due to the COVID-19 pandemic, only Brevard College students, faculty and staff, as well as essential game personnel, will be permitted at outdoor sporting events during the Spring 2021 semester. No outside spectators will be permitted for any athletics event on the Brevard College campus. For those attending the match from the on-campus community, masks and social distancing are required as well as Brevard College identification.
