Tornados Look to Start Winning Streak Versus Emmanuel

BREVARD, N.C. – The Brevard softball team hosts Emmanuel on Sunday, April 8, the first of four games for the Tornados on the week, as they look to start a winning streak in the final month of the season. The first game begins at 2 p.m. and the second will follow soon thereafter.

The Tornados (8-14) have won three of their last four games, including a sweep of Agnes Scott on March 30. Brevard's most recent triumph came against Wesleyan on Saturday, March 31st, when Ricki Kuhn lifted a two-out walk-off double into left field to provide the team with a 6-5 win in the bottom of the eighth inning against the Wolves, avenging a 2-1 setback suffered earlier in the afternoon.

Brevard will make a quick turnaround from its trip, hosting Piedmont in a doubleheader on Thursday afternoon at Ives-Lemel Field with the first game set for 2 p.m. The final game of the stretch is set for Sunday, April 8, when the Tornados host Emmanuel at 2 and 4 p.m.

Leading the way for the Tornados offensively is Teegan Bullock, who owns a .382 batting average and 21 hits on the season. Bullock is one of four Brevard hitters with at least 10 at-bats with a .300 batting average or better including Brittany Franks (.333), Emily White (.313) and Kuhn (.309).

Kuhn is the top pitcher on the staff with a 5-9 mark to go along with 34 strikeouts. She has allowed 76 hits, 64 runs, 36 earned runs and 23 walks.

Emmanuel brings a 13-21 mark into the contest, dropping a pair of games to Limestone on Thursday afternoon by scores of 7-4 and 5-1.

Leading the way for the Lions offense is Becky Collins, who owns a .352 batting average after hitting 32-of-91 from the plate. Collins has four doubles and 15 RBI to her credit, while teammate Isabelle Petty leads the way in hits (37) to go along with four doubles and two triples.

Madison Hopper leads the way on the mound, logging 28.2 innings, converting 16 strikeouts, allowed 44 hits, 28 runs (22 earned runs) and 16 walks.
