Brevard College In Action at USA Climbing National Championships

MURFREESBORO, Tenn, - The Brevard College Climbing team is in action this weekend at the USA Climbing National Championships at Climb Murfreesboro in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

Brevard College freshman Madison Altman, one of eight finalist for the BC's Female Athlete of the Year, earned an automatic qualification to the national championships with her performance at the USA Climbing Appalachian Regional Championships in March.  At the Regional Championships, Altman finished third in the Sport championships (3,400 points) and fifth in the Speed competition (time of 11.285) to earn her spot in the national championships.

Altman's teammates made the trip to Murfreesboro as well with the potential to compete in the national championships depending on actual attendance of automatic qualifiers from throughout the nation.  BC's Danielle Brown, Nathan Boepple, Taylor Everard, Mac Fitzgerald, Carlton Angell and Samuel Willis are each registered for the event.

Qualifying Rounds for all three disciplines – Sport, Speed and Bouldering – will take place throught the day Friday to determine the qualifiers for Saturday's Final Rounds.  The Sport and Speed finals will then take place on Saturday morning with the Bouldering Finals set for 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT at Climb Murfreesboro.
