Brevard Men’s Tennis Narrowly Falls to NCAA DII Johnson C. Smith

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Brevard College Tornados Men's Tennis team (2-8) fell just short at NCAA DII Johnson C. Smith (1-8), 4-3,  on Sunday afternoon. 

Both sides split singles action, as the Tornados won no. 1-3, while the Golden Bulls took no. 4-6. JCS took the doubles point after winning two of the three doubles matches. 

Tom Mittring's ongoing singles win streak reached 18 matches on Sunday as the senior from Bavaria, Germany collected a 6-1, 7-5 win in no. 1 singles action. 

The doubles duo of Mittring and Tim Hengst recorded yet another victory to their ledger, as the two defeated JCS's no. 1 doubles duo, 6-2. 

In no. 2 doubles, BC's Tyler Frazee and Nathan Boepple narrowly fell in a tight match, 4-6. The Golden Bulls took no. 3 doubles to clinch the doubles point. 

Hengst claimed a no. 2 singles win, 6-3, 6-3, while Frazee cruised to his third win of the week, 6-0, 6-3. 

The Golden Bulls won no 4-6 singles matches in controlling fashion to clinch their first victory of the 2018-19 season, 4-3, over the Tornados.

BC will return to the McCoy Tennis Complex for a home match on Tuesday, March 26 at 1:30 p.m. versus Johnson University (Tennessee).
