Mittring Highlights Match with Montreat

MONTREAT, N.C.Tom Mittring earned two victories and Will Christiansen posted a singles win for the Brevard men's tennis team, but it was Montreat that came away with the 6-3 win in Saturday's clash between the two programs.

Mittring put together a dominating performance as the Tornado's No. 1 seed, taking down Lorward Choi by scores of 6-1, 6-0. Meanwhile, Christiansen fought back from an opening set loss to earn a 3-6, 6-0, 10-6 win over David Garcia in the battle of third seeds.

Leopoldo Lucero, Ben Cree, Jackson Plyler and Anh Hoang earned straight set victories for Montreat in singles action, accounting for four points.

Mittring teamed with Hengst in doubles action to give the Tornados a 8-6 win over Cree and Lucero. However, Montreat secured the victory with a series of 8-1 triumphs by Choi/Garcia and Hoang/Chumley.

The Tornados return to the court in February when they host the first three matches of the spring season against Southern Wesleyan (Feb. 3), Belmont Abbey (Feb. 14) and Pfeiffer (Feb. 16).
