Brevard Drops 5-0 Defeat to Maryville

MARYVILLE, Tenn. - The Brevard College Men's Soccer team (1-8-0, 0-5-0) fell to host Maryville (5-3-0, 4-2-0) in a USA South match played Tuesday evening.

The match was scoreless for the first 27 minutes of the contest with Brevard goalkeeper registering four saves in the early going.  Maryville then broke the scoreless deadlock with a goal in the 28th minute.

The score remained 1-0 for the rest of the first half and through the first six minutes of the second stanza.  Then, the Scots scored two goals in succession just two minutes apart to take a 3-0 lead.

Maryville would add two more insurance goals in the 77th and 80th minutes to put the game away.

Fighting off a barrage of shots by the Scots, Hall was able to garner a total of 10 saves in 75 minutes played in the defeat.

Brevard recorded eight shots in the contest with David Garrett and Adam Spencer with two shots a piece.

The Tornados will be back in action vs. Berea on Tuesday at 3 p.m. in a match that was originally scheduled to be played at Berea last month but was postponed due to weather.  The rescheduled match will be played in Maryville, Tenn. on a neutral field.
