Men's Soccer Drops Conference Opener to Piedmont

Brevard, N.C. -Brevard College (0-3-0, 0-1-0) fell 6-1 to Piedmont (3-1-0, 2-0-0) on Tuesday evening at Ives-Lemel Family Field in the USA South Conference opener for the Tornados.

A goal by Adam Spencer provided the highlight of the night for the Tornados, marking Brevard's first goal of the 2018 season.  In the 78th minute, Spencer found the back of the net after a beautiful double-assist by Eric Lenhert and Chris Efenecy
 
Down 5-1 after the Spencer goal, the Tornados briefly experienced some momentum until a final goal by Piedmont in the 82nd minute closed the contest.
 
The Lions opened the game's scoring with a goal in the seventh minute.  The Tornados kept within one goal for the majority of the first half until Piedmont scored with less than a minute remaining before intermission.  
 
Two more Piedmont goals followed in the opening minutes of the second half followed by a goal in the 73rd minute to stake a 5-0 lead.
 
Brevard out-shot the Lions 6-3 in the first half, yet the Tornados only recorded two shots in the second half with Spencer's shot giving BC its lone goal.
 
The Tornados return to action with a road match at USA South Conference foe Covenant on Saturday, Sept. 15 at 7 p.m. in Lookout Mountain, Ga.
