Brevard falls to Maryville in double overtime

BREVARD, N.C.- Brevard (2-5-0) men's soccer suffers a setback against Maryville (10-1-0) 1-0 in double overtime.

Maryville's Michael Quatrano found the back of the net with nine seconds left in the sudden-death, second overtime period. 

In the first half Brevard limited the Scots to just five shots, as goalkeeper Eric Lenhart recorded three saves in the first frame. On offense in the first half the Tornados were held to four shots, but none were on goal.

During the second half Maryville shot 15 shots, as Lenhart tallied four more saves to keep the shutout going at the end of regulation. 

In the first overtime the Tornados kept the pressure on defense, holding the Scots to only one shot. Brevard could not capitalize on their two shots in the first overtime.

With only nine seconds remaining in the second overtime, Quatrano was able to score for Maryville to earn the victory.

Brevard returns to action October 7 at Greensboro.
