Brevard takes down Berea in second victory of the season

BREVARD, N.C.- Brevard men's soccer earned their second win of the season as they beat Berea 6-0.

The Tornados (2-4) shot an astounding 34 shots, while only allowing four shots to the Mountaineers (0-9) in the shutout victory.

Jesse Omezi was the leading scorer on the match as he scored two goals, one of which was a penalty kick.

The scoring began early, as Heptzel Santos knocked one in from inside the box to make the score 1-0 in the second minute.

In the 18th minute, Matheus Masukawa found the back of the net off an assist from Xavier Mariduena to build on their lead.

Just over a minute later the Tornados were fouled inside the box, which led to Austin Wolfe scoring the first of two penalty kicks Brevard connected on in the match.

In the 58th minute, Omezi scored his first goal on a mad dash to the ball after he found his way around the Berea goalkeeper who played too far out to make the score 4-0.

The Tornados scored in the 69th minute after another foul in the box by the Mountaineers, as Omezi buried the ball in the back of the net to make the score 5-0.

Brevard's final goal of the match came from a free kick by Brock Tuttle in the 72nd minute, as he drilled the shot in the upper right corner of the net to give the Tornados a six goal advantage.

The Tornados will return to action on October 3rd, as they host Maryville.
