DANVILLE, Va. - The Brevard College Tornados Men's Lacrosse team (6-6, 3-3 USAS) returned to the .500 mark in impressive fashion by defeating the Averett Cougars (1-11, 0-6 USAS), 18-5, on Saturday afternoon in Danville, Virginia.

Averett took a slim, 2-1 lead after the first quarter before the Tornados took over, striking for five goals in the second to take a 6-3 lead at the half. BC's offense exploded for nine scores in the third quarter, shutting out the Cougars in the process, en route to the 18-5 victory.

Sophomore Sam Duffie found the back of the net four times as well as dishing out an assist, while seniors Sean Pratt (two goals), Jack Shade (one goal), and Chris Efenecy (one goal) rounded out Brevard's offensive showcase.

Robert Kokal and Daniel Ramos helped to anchor a strong defensive effort for the Tornado. Kokal tied his season-high for ground balls, snagging a game-high 14 against the Cougars. Ramos added nine ground balls, while senior goalkeeper Peyton Mooney recorded three saves and five ground balls.

Efenecy opened up the contest with his first goal of 2019, scoring at the 13:38 mark to give the Tornados a 1-0 lead. Averett answered by scoring back-to-back goals to close the first quarter out, taking a slim, 2-1 lead into the second period.

After the Cougars took a brief, 3-1 lead with 11:31 left in the second quarter, the Tornados began a streak of 15-straight goals over the course of the second, third, and fourth quarters. Over that span, the Tornados converted a man-up situation, as Farr sent a McKaig pass into the back of the net with 1:41 left in the second quarter.
