BREVARD, N.C. - The Brevard College Men's Lacrosse team (1-1) dropped its home opener 21-5 to Birmingham Southern (1-0) on Saturday afternoon at Ives-Lemel Family Field.

Four different players registered goals for the Tornados, led once again by Hewitt Farr.  The senior from Sante Fe, N.M. scored two goals to raise his season total to ten goals through two games.  Farr matched teammate Jackson McKaig's single-game BC scoring record with eight goals in last week's season-opener at Montreat.

Seniors McKaig and Jack Shade each tallied two points in the defeat with one goal and one assist apiece. Sophomore Evan Francois came off the bench to score for the Tornados as well.

The Panthers opened the game with a quick 2-0 lead before Shade's goal cut the lead in half at the 6:57 mark of the first quarter.

Birmingham Southern then jumped ahead to a 6-1 lead after the first quarter and tacked on three more goals in the second stanza to take a 9-1 lead with two minutes to play before halftime.  Farr then scored his first goal of the day, off an assist by Shade to cut the deficit to seven points heading into the intermission.

The Panthers built on their lead even further after halftime, outscoring the Tornados 7-2 in the third period with BC's goals coming from Farr and McKaig.  Despite a fourth-quarter goal by Francois off an assist from McKaig, a 5-1 advantage in the fourth quarter then sealed the win for Birmingham Southern.

The Tornados return to action on Wednesday with a road trip to Franklin Springs, Ga. for a non-conference tilt at Emmanuel College with an opening faceoff set for 4 p.m.
