LAGRANGE, Ga. - Following the completion of the first day of action at the 2019 USA South Men's Golf Championships at the Highland Country Club in LaGrange, Georgia, Brevard College senior Austin Fisher sits tied for first place overall. Fisher is tied with Drew Mathers, who is ranked number four nationally amongst NCAA DIII golfers by Golfstat, after firing an impressive first-round 67 (-5).

Fisher parred the first two holes before stepping into the tee box on the par-5, 511-yard third hole, where he recorded the first of his seven birdies on the morning.

The Hendersonville, N.C. native's second birdie came on the short par-4, 311-yard fifth hole, moving Fisher to two-under for the tournament.

After a par on hole 6, Fisher strung together four straight birdies on holes 7-10 to move to six-under, making his mark early on the tournament.

Fisher would move to seven-under on the par-4, 370 yard 14th hole before bogeys on holes 15 and 18 gave the senior a first-round 67.

Alongside Fisher, fellow senior Thibault Tranchant completed his first day of action as well. Tranchant carded a first-round 83, rounding out play on day one for Brevard College's two participants.

Fisher and Tranchant will resume action tomorrow morning with an 8 a.m. tee time. Both Fisher and Tranchant are eligible to win the championship as individuals.
