Austin Fisher Tallies Third-Straight Top-Three Finish at the J. Ralph Hargett Invitational

MONROE, N.C. – Senior golfer Austin Fisher capped off another impressive performance, pacing the Tornados at the J. Ralph Hargett Invitational hosted by Wingate University at Stonebridge Golf Club. Fisher finished play with a three-round score of 214 (-2) to earn a tie for third place overall, his third straight top-three finish.

Fisher has earned hardware in every event that he has competed in this Spring, previously finishing tied for third at the Mars Hill Spring Invitational at the Diamondback Golf Club in Loris, S.C. before winning the Cavalier Spring Invitational at Broadmoor Golf Links in Fletcher, N.C. Fisher also won the co-championship at the Mars Hill Fall Invitational at Broadmoor Golf Links in Fletcher, N.C. back in the Fall portion of the schedule.

Fisher, a Hendersonville, N.C. native, fired a first round 69 (-3) on Monday morning before following it up with a second round 73 (+1) for a day one total of 142 (-2). Fisher closed the tournament out on Tuesday morning with an even-par 72 to conclude the tournament tied in third place.

Fisher was tied for sixth in birdies made for the tournament with eight and parred 42 holes, the most out of any competitor. Fisher averaged a 3.9 score on Par 4 holes, which was tied for the lowest average amongst tournament participants. The senior held his own on Par 5's with a 4.67 scoring average that was third-lowest among participants.

Thibault Tranchant finished action tied for 20th place after finishing the tournament with a three-round score of 226 (+10). Tranchant previously finished in third place at the Cavalier Spring Invitational. The native of Fontainebleau, France was tied for first in lowest Par 3 scoring, averaging a score of 2.83 on Par 3 holes.

Thomas Purcell rounded out BC's competitors with a three-round score of 229 (+13), which placed 30th. 

The field at the J. Ralph Hargett Invitational was highly competitive consisting of schools from NCAA DII members Wingate University, Erskine College, Belmont Abbey College, and Catawba College. Fellow USA South member William Peace University also competed in the event.

Belmont Abbey's Ben Loudermilk won the individual championship with a score of 208 (-8), while the Belmont Abbey Crusaders took home the team title.

BC Men's Golf returns to action this coming weekend as it takes part in the Tusculum Men's Invitational at Link Hills Country Club in Greenville, Tennessee on Saturday, March 16 and Sunday, March 17.
