  • Pledger Becomes BC’s First DIII-Era All-American; Naylor Selected to D3football.com’s All-Region Squad

    Sophomore defensive back Joc Pledger was selected to D3football.com’s Spring 2021 All-American Second Team to become the first All-American student-athlete in Brevard College’s NCAA DIII-Era.  BC sophomore linebacker Toby Naylor became the Tornados’ first All-Region selection as a member of Division III, securing a spot on the D3football.com All-Region Second Team.

  • Three Tornados Selected to NFF’s Hampshire Honor Society

    Brevard College Football has earned three selections on the 2021 National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society.  Senior student-athletes Dante Anderson, Steven Hogan, and Gabriel Rebollar-Catalan were all selected to the prestigious group of college football athletes across all NCAA divisions and the NAIA.  The three Tornado seniors marked the most selections to the Hampshire Honor Society for the BC Football program since 2015.

  • Tornados Earn Seven Team of the Week Honorees from D3football.com

    A record seven Brevard College football student-athletes were named to D3football.com’s Team of the Week following BC’s dominant 44-14 victory over NC Wesleyan this past Saturday at Ives-Lemel Family Field.  Junior quarterback/tight end Dalton Cole was selected as tight end of the week following a three-touchdown performance, while sophomore defensive back Joc Pledger earned his second selection of the season after securing his fifth interception of the season. BC’s entire starting offensive line consisting of senior Nicholas Eubanks, juniors Zion Barjolo, Ari, Drake, and Brandon Unangst, and sophomore Todd Norman were all picked to the Team of the Week following BC’s 319-yard performance. Brevard’s 319 yards on the ground last Saturday were its most since the 2016 season. 
  • Tornados Rout Battling Bishops in Statement Victory

    The Brevard College football team (4-1) dominated in all facets of the game to earn a decisive 30-point victory, 44-14, over cross-divisional rival NC Wesleyan College (0-4) on Saturday afternoon at Ives-Lemel Family Field. Brevard College, who claimed USA South Conference Co-West Division Champion honors prior to this weekend’s matchup outscored NC Wesleyan 30-7 in the first half en route to the dominant victory. BC outgained the Battling Bishops, 523-212, as the Tornados’ 523 offensive yards gained Saturday ranks top-10 all-time in BC football history for single-game total offensive yards.

  • Jackson Earns National Honor Following Two-Interception Performance

    Senior defensive back Quentin Jackson was named to the third D3football.com Team of the Week of his Tornado career following his two-pick performance in BC’s 14-3 triumph over Maryville this past Saturday.  The selection marks Jackson's third D3football.com Team of the Week selection alongside a pair of USA South Football Defensive Player of the Week honors and a 2018 USA South All-Conference First Team honor. The former dual-sport athlete at BC also earned numerous Track & Field honors, including a first-place finish in the 4x100 relay at the 2019 ECAC Track & Field Championships. Jackson, a Columbia, Maryland native, produced two key interceptions for BC's defense in the victory. Jackson's second interception was returned 26 yards, setting up the Tornado offense to score their second touchdown of the day and put the contest essentially out of reach, as BC pulled through with the 11-point triumph. With the two picks on Saturday, Jackson continues to climb closer to the Brevard College all-time record for career interceptions. Jackson has secured nine picks over his Tornado career, ranking second all-time behind Michael Gist (2008-11), who picked off 11 passes over the course of his career at BC.

    Despite a near two-and-a-half-hour lighting delay, the Brevard College football team (3-1, 2-1 USAS) outlasted Maryville College (1-2, 0-2 USAS), 14-3, on a rain-soaked Saturday afternoon at Honaker Field in Maryville, Tennessee. Brevard’s defense, which has not allowed a touchdown in 11 consecutive quarters of play, forced three interceptions, two sacks, and six tackles-for-loss while limiting the Maryville offense to under 150 yards of total offense and holding the Scots to 2-of-10 on third downs. The BC offense out-gained Maryville, 246-147 in total offense, while BC’s special team’s unit averaged 40.8 yards-per-punt.

  • Anderson Earns National Honor After Leading Dominant Defensive Performance

    Senior defensive back Dante Anderson was named to D3football.com’s Team of the Week following Brevard’s 27-3 victory over Huntingdon in the first on-campus home game in the modern era. Anderson, a safety from Hartwell, Georgia, recorded a career-high 13 tackles (five solo, eight assist) with a key interception, two pass breakups, and a tackle-for-loss in Brevard’s dominant home victory over defending USA South Conference champion Huntingdon. The senior captain currently leads Brevard’s defense with 30 tackles – a team-best 16 of which being solo – 10 tackles-per-game, and three pass breakups.
  • Carr, Smith II Sweep USA South Rookie of the Week Awards

    Brevard College football freshmen Eli Carr and Ernest Smith II swept the USA South Football Rookie of the Week awards following BC’s dominant 27-3 victory over Huntingdon College last Saturday at Ives-Lemel Family Field.  Carr secured his second consecutive Offensive Rookie of the Week nod after a four-touchdown performance against the defending USA South champion Hawks. Smith II secured Defensive Rookie of the Week honors following a four-tackle performance that included a pair of stops on fourth down. 
  • Brevard Dominates Huntingdon, Christens New Stadium with Win on Senior Day

    Playing the first modern-era football game on the campus of Brevard College, the Brevard College football team (2-1, 1-1 USAS) christened the newly-expanded Ives-Lemel Family Field with a crucial USA South Conference victory, 27-3, in emphatic fashion over Huntingdon College (1-1, 1-1 USAS) on Saturday afternoon. In addition to opening up its new stadium for football play, the Tornados honored 11 football and two cheerleading seniors in a special pregame ceremony held prior to kickoff. Reigning USA South Football Offensive Rookie of the Week Eli Carr threw for a career-high four touchdown passes, as the Asheville native completed 12-of-20 for 194 yards. One of Carr’s favorite targets on the afternoon, Jonathan Woods, hauled down a pair of touchdowns for 69 receiving yards on just two catches. The first-year Tornado transfer student-athlete caught 38 and 31-yard touchdowns, both coming in the second quarter, to help the Tornados extend their lead out to three possessions.
  • Brevard Football to Honor Senior Class in First Modern-Era Game on Brevard College Campus

    The Brevard College Football team (1-1) is set to host the first home football game on the Brevard College campus in the modern era on Saturday, as the Tornados take on Huntingdon College (1-0) in a conference rematch at Ives-Lemel Family Field in a 1 p.m. kickoff. The Tornados will honor its 2021 graduating football senior class, alongside the BC cheerleading team, at 12:30 p.m. in a special ceremony on the turf at Ives-Lemel Family Field.
  • Jackson, Naylor Selected to D3football.com Team of the Week Following Averett Win

    Senior defensive back Quentin Jackson and sophomore linebacker Toby Naylor were each selected as D3football.com Team of the Week honorees following their individual performances that helped the Brevard College football team earn their first victory of Spring 2021, a 19-10 come-from-behind victory at Averett University last Saturday. Jackson, a product of Columbia, Maryland, helped cap off Brevard’s comeback attempt with a 31-yard pick-six touchdown, as the senior jumped a route and took the Averett pass to the house, giving the Tornados a two-possession lead that they would not relinquish. The former USA South All-Conference selection recorded six tackles alongside a pass breakup in the Tornados winning effort. Jackson now has seven career interceptions to move him into second all-time on the Brevard College career interceptions list, as well as a pair of career pick-six touchdowns. Naylor, a sophomore linebacker from Southampton, England, earns his first national weekly award nomination following an impressive performance to help lead the Tornado front-seven against the Cougars. Naylor made a habit of getting into the backfield, wrangling in a career-best nine tackles (four solo, five assist), with a career-high 1.5 sacks on the quarterback. 
  • Eli Carr Named USA South Offensive Rookie of the Week Following Collegiate Debut

    Following a come-from-behind victory, 19-10, over Averett University, freshman quarterback Eli Carr was selected as Football Offensive Rookie of the Week by the USA South Conference. Carr, a native of nearby Asheville, North Carolina, turned in a highly-efficient performance on Saturday in Danville, completing 24-of-32 passing attempts for 212 yards and a touchdown to help lead the Tornados to victory on the road. All 19 of Brevard's points came in the second half on Saturday, with 13 coming in the fourth quarter of play. 
  • Second-Half Surge Gives Tornados 19-10 Victory over Cougars

    The Brevard College football team (1-1) came alive in the second half, scoring 19 unanswered points to overcome a 10-point halftime deficit, claiming a key 19-10 victory against fellow USA South Conference member Averett University in a non-conference contest on Saturday afternoon in Danville, Virginia. Freshman quarterback Eli Carr threw for a game-high 212 passing yards, going 24-of-32 for a 75% completion percentage with a passing touchdown. Carr, a native of nearby Asheville, North Carolina, helped lead the Tornados to victory in his debut at the collegiate level. Fellow freshman wide receiver Justin Pendergrass helped lead the charge offensively, grabbing a game and career-high nine catches and 104 receiving yards for an average of 11.6 yards-per-catch. Senior wideout Jamerial Parks added a pair of receptions for 45 yards, including a game-long 30-yard completion. Brevard’s defense rose to the occasion on Saturday, forcing three big turnovers while allowing just 15 yards through the air. Toby Naylor led all Tornados with a career-high 10-tackle performance that included 1.5 sacks and two tackles-for-loss. Steffon Canady added nine tackles and a pair of TFL’s, while Dante Anderson and Quentin Jackson logged six tackles apiece. Jackson returned a pivotal 31-yard pick-six that pushed BC’s lead to a two-possession, 19-10 margin late in the fourth quarter. Joc Pledger, who was named to D3Football.com’s Team of the Week following his impressive week one performance at Huntingdon, hauled in an interception, while Logan Akins recovered a fumble that was forced by freshman linebacker Bryce Easter.
  • Pledger Honored by D3football.com, Selected to Team of the Week

    Brevard College sophomore defensive back Joc Pledger earned national accolades, as D3football.com named the Monroe, Georgia native as a selection to its first Division III Team of the Week of the Spring 2021 season. Pledger had a huge afternoon for the Tornados in helping keep the Hawks in check on Febuary 20. He came up with nine total tackles, three of them tackles for loss, as well as a forced fumble and a pass breakup in a game Huntingdon won 26-18. His pass breakup in the red zone forced Huntingdon to settle for a field goal in the first quarter, and his forced fumble came shortly after Brevard cut the deficit to 11 in the fourth quarter, giving the offense the ball on the Huntingdon 15-yard-line. The sophomore becomes BC’s sixth national weekly honoree in the last four years for the Tornado football program.
  • Spectator Guidelines for Brevard College Outdoor Sports in Spring, 2021

    Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Brevard College has established spectator guidelines for Spring 2021 home, outdoor athletic events. The updated guidelines are in accordance with the adjusted outdoor spectator policy announced by the USA South Conference on February 23. 2021. These regulations apply to the sports of baseball, football, men’s lacrosse, women’s lacrosse, men’s soccer, women’s soccer, softball, men’s tennis and women’s tennis at Brevard College.
  • Football Adds Game at Averett this Saturday, March 6; Kickoff Set for 3 p.m.

    The Brevard College football team has announced a schedule addition, as the Tornados will head to Danville, Virginia this Saturday, March 6 to face Averett University in a non-conference matchup scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. Live video and statistics will be available to follow along with the action, courtesy of Averett University. This contest replaces Brevard’s originally scheduled home contest against Maryville College that was canceled. Following this weekend’s matchup at Averett, the Tornados will return to action with their home-opener at Ives-Lemel Family Field on Saturday, March 13 at 2 p.m. against Huntingdon College.

  • Comeback Attempt Falls Just Short for Football at Huntingdon

    The Brevard College football team (0-1, 0-1 USAS) opened its long-awaited 2021 Spring season, dropping a narrow decision to USA South Conference foe Huntingdon College (1-0, 1-0 USAS), 26-18, despite a spirited comeback attempt in the closing minutes of action on Saturday afternoon. Trailing 26-7 with less than three minutes remaining to play, the Tornados scored 11 points in less than a minute to cut the deficit to an eight-point, 26-18 margin with 1:57 left to play. Huntingdon staved off Brevard’s late comeback bid by killing 1:15 off the clock and pinning the Tornados inside their own five-yard line with less than 40 seconds to play. Despite a couple of early Huntingdon touchdowns, Brevard’s defense impressed in the latter stages of the contest, forcing the Hawks into six punts and holding Huntingdon to a 4-of-16 mark on third-down efficiency. The Tornado defense forced a pair of fumbles (one recovered) in addition to their drive-stalling efforts that included 11 tackles-for-loss and a pair of quarterback sacks. Senior defensive back Dante Anderson led all players with an 11-tackle performance (seven solo, four assist) in addition to 1.5 tackles for loss and a pass breakup. Sophomore defensive back Joc Pledger added eight tackles, two tackles-for-loss, a pass breakup, and a pivotal forced fumble late in the fourth quarter that gave the Tornados new life. Steffon Canady, Toby Naylor, and Andreas Wyatt added seven tackles each, while Chris Diaz posted a six-tackle performance. Wesley Ross added four tackles, while Jerome Bass, Canady, Diaz, Derek Frazier, Tyler Harrison, Quentin Jackson, and Antonio Williams Jr. all logged tackles-for-losses. Bass and Williams Jr. each recorded a sack as well.
