2019 Brevard Football Schedule

BREVARD, N.C. – The Brevard College football schedule has been announced for the 2019 season, featuring five home games including a night game at Brevard Memorial Stadium.

Under the direction of Head Coach Bill Khayat, the Tornados will look to continue their home field success in 2019.  Brevard College went 4-1 at home in 2018, including wins in each of the final three home games of the season.  The home dates for the Tornados in 2019 are set for September 14, September 21, October 5, October 19 and November 9.

"Although we will be starting our season later than usual, having three of our first four games at home is exciting news," said Head Football Coach Bill Khayat.  "The early season schedule is a wonderful opportunity for our fans to enjoy the action in person while cheering on the Tornados as we prepare for USA South competition."

The first two games of the 2019 season will be played at home and feature matchups against non-conference foes as Brevard will host Apprentice School and Christopher Newport University at Brevard Memorial Stadium.

The Tornados will open its 2019 campaign on Saturday, September 14 with a 1 p.m. home game vs. Apprentice School at Brevard Memorial Stadium.  Apprentice, a USCAA (United States Collegiate Athletic Association) member school out of Newport News, Va., is coming off a 9-3 overall record and a NCFA (National Club Football Association) national championship in 2018.  The Builders won six straight games to close out the 2018 season, including three straight wins in the NCFA national championships.

A week later, Brevard College will host the first-ever home night game under Khayat with a 7 p.m. contest vs. Christopher Newport University.  Christopher Newport, an NCAA Division III program and a member of the New Jersey Athletic Conference, went 7-2 with four straight wins to conclude this past season.

Brevard will wrap up the non-conference portion of its schedule with a trip to Columbia, S.C. to face off against Allen University on September 28.  The Tornados defeated Allen 46-10 in the 2018 season finale at Brevard Memorial Stadium in a game that had been rescheduled due to a hurricane in the region earlier in the season.

October will mark the start of USA South Conference play for the 2019 Tornados, who will look to improve upon a 3-4 record in league play and a fifth-place finish in the conference standings.

Brevard will kick off its 2019 USA South schedule with a home game vs. Maryville College on Saturday, October 5 at Brevard Memorial Stadium.  Maryville, the defending USA South Conference champions, went undefeated in league play with a 7-0 conference mark in 2018.

The following week on Saturday, October 12, the Tornados will play their first USA South road contest of the season with a trip to Fayetteville, N.C. to take on Methodist University.  The game will be a rematch of a classic contest in 2018 which saw the Tornados win 41-36.

The Tornados will then return home on Saturday, October 19 when they host conference rival Huntingdon.  The Tornados will be looking to avenge a 52-17 defeat at Huntingdon in 2018.

Brevard will then play back-to-back conference road games at N.C. Wesleyan and LaGrange.  The Tornados will travel to Rocky Mount, N.C. on October 26 seeking revenge after a tight 29-21 loss to the Battling Bishops this past season.  The following week will feature a rematch of another classic matchup from 2018 as the Tornados travel to LaGrange, Ga. on November 2.  Brevard defeated LaGrange 38-24 in 2018 on a dramatic game-winner with 19 seconds remaining.

The home finale and Senior Day for the 2019 Tornados will take place on November 9 vs. USA South Conference foe Averett College. Averett defeated Brevard 25-6 in Danville, Va. this past season.

The 2019 season will conclude on the road as the Tornados travel to Greensboro, N.C. to take on Greensboro College in another USA South matchup.  BC handled Greensboro 28-7 in a 2018 Senior Day victory for the Tornados.

Brevard will enter the 2019 season after an exciting 2018 that saw the Tornados win three of their last four contests.  Several Brevard College football student-athletes garnered awards in 2018 with six Tornados collecting USA South post-season honors.  Quarterback Dalton Cole was named USA South Offensive Rookie of the Year, while wide receiver Bubba Craven, defensive back Quentin Jackson, defensive end Axel Easter, punter Ralph Roman III and tight end Martigus Henley were all selected to USA South postseason teams.
