BREVARD, N.C. – The Brevard College Tornados Football team (2-5, 2-3 USAS) hit the road one final time in 2018 to face off against the Averett University Cougars (5-2, 4-1 USAS) on Saturday in Danville, Virginia. The game is slated for a 5 p.m. start.

The Tornados will look to build off of momentum found in last week's contest, where a Dalton Cole pass to Bubba Craven sealed Brevard's comeback effort with a 38-34 victory over LaGrange.

Brevard's resurgence last week has placed the Tornados among conference leaders in several statistical categories. As a team, Brevard holds the second-ranked passing offense, accumulating 1,600 passing yards over the course of 2018. Brevard's passing offense is also second in yards per game (228.6), in addition to being third in passing touchdowns (15). Head Coach Bill Khayat and his coaching staff have worked hard to implement a pro-style offense to the BC football program, which exclusively ran a triple-option offense before Khayat arrived in the mountains of Western North Carolina.

Assistant Head Coach Eric Gallon's rushing attack enjoyed its best outing of 2018 on Saturday. Led by senior offensive threat Tyler Gregory, the BC running game recorded a total of 279 yards on the ground last Saturday.

BC's special teams will look to be a factor in its upcoming contest. Brevard currently leads the USA South in total kickoff return yardage (770), and only trails Averett in kickoff return average (19.7). Sophomore defensive back/return specialist Trevon Charles currently leads the USA South in both return yards (347) and average (24.7).

Defensive Coordinator Kurt Gouveia's defense wreaked havoc last Saturday against LaGrange, forcing four turnovers in the process. The BC defense is currently second in the USA South in turnovers forced (16), including a league-leading 10 fumble recoveries.

Brevard will be in search of revenge with the trip to Danville, Virginia.  Last season, Averett came to Brevard Memorial Stadium and spoiled BC's last home game, defeating Brevard 41-17.

Following Brevard College's 38-34 triumph over LaGrange last Saturday, the USA South announced that freshman quarterback Dalton Cole and sophomore cornerback Quentin Jackson were selected as USA South Conference Players of the Week.

Cole was selected as the USA South Offensive Rookie of the Week after his four-touchdown performance on Saturday. This announcement marks the second time that Cole has received this honor in 2018, as the Hendersonville, N.C. native was named USA South Offensive Rookie of the Week for the week ending on Oct. 7.

Jackson was selected as the USA South Defensive Player of the Week following a two-interception outing against LaGrange. These two interceptions were the first two of Jackson's career, as the sophomore continues to develop as one of the leaders on defense for the Tornados.

Also after the home victory on Saturday, senior wide receiver Bubba Craven became the Brevard College all-time leader in career receiving yards after his seven-reception, 94-yard, two-touchdown outing on Saturday afternoon. Craven, who has recorded 1,287 receiving yards in just two years, passed Eric Watts (1,234, 2009-12) in the BC record books.

The Tornados will return home after Saturday's contest for Senior Day on Nov. 10 at 1 p.m. at Brevard Memorial Stadium. Seniors Axel Easter, Bubba Craven, Devon Edge, Justin Peck, Ryan Jordan, and Tyler Gregory will be honored as part of the festivities.
