BREVARD, N.C. - The Brevard College baseball team (2-11, 1-5 USAS) is back at Gil Coan Field this coming weekend, when the Tornados square off against Maryville College (9-5, 3-3 USAS) in a three-game USA South Conference series.

The Tornados will play the Scots in a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 12 p.m., with game two following suit at approximately 3 p.m. The series will conclude on Sunday afternoon in a 1 p.m. first-pitch time.

Brevard is fresh off its second conference series, where the Tornados traveled to Rocky Mount, North Carolina to take on NC Wesleyan College. The Tornados took the first game in dominant, 8-2 fashion before falling by a 12-2 final in the second game of the series. A pitching duel in the final game went the Battling Bishops' way, as the hosts took a close 2-1 decision to win the series.

In game one of the set, junior catcher Christian Ezzell went 4-for-5 with a career-best five RBI's and a two-run homer while Huntley Hacker earned his first career collegiate victory with a six-inning performance in relief.

Senior right-handed pitcher Kross Robinson turned in a quality performance for the Tornados in game three's narrow loss for BC in the series finale. Robinson, a senior from Morganton, North Carolina, pitched seven innings of one-run ball, logging six strikeouts in the contest.

Robinson has fanned 27 batters over the course of his four starts this season, which places the right-handed fourth in the USA South.

The Tornados welcome a Maryville side who has enjoyed early success to its 2020 season thus far. The Scots are most recently coming off a conference sweep of Huntingdon College - a side that is receiving votes nationally in the D3Baseball.com Top 25 poll - while receiving individual national recognition in the process.. MC's Derek Hurt was named to D3Baseball.com's Team of the Week and was selected as the NCBWA's NCAA DIII National Hitter of the Week following his performance against Huntingdon last weekend.

Brevard's five-game homestand will continue into spring break next week when the Tornados host a pair of non-conference opponents at Gil Coan Field. BC first hosts Hampden-Sydney College on Monday at 3 p.m. before battling Emory & Henry College in the first contest of a home-and-home series between the two institutions. The Tornados and Wasps will face off on Wednesday, March 11 at 3 p.m.
