Brevard Drops Saturday Doubleheader to Pfeiffer

GAME 1

MISENHEIMER, N.C.- After hanging with Pfeiffer for six innings, Brevard was unable to pull away as the Falcons took the 3-2 victory in the first game of the afternoon.

Heading into the bottom of the seventh inning with the game tied at two, Christian Marciano was able to place a base hit into right field to score Derek Perry to break the tie. The hit was Marciano's only hit in the first game, but proved to be the game-winning RBI.

In the top of the ninth with Zeke Hester on third base and two outs, Peyton Williams completed the save and prevented the Tornados from tying the game. 

Tyler Timms logged his sixth complete game of the season, as the senior threw five strikeouts while allowing three earned runs in the contest.

Brevard began the scoring on the afternoon as Donny Carsillo recorded an RBI in the top of the first to make the score 1-0. The Falcons were not able to put any runs on the board until the third inning, as the team notched two runs to take the lead.

The Tornados managed to tie the game in the fifth inning, as Eddie Mattocks was able to score a run by way of a passed ball from the Falcons.

GAME 2

Pfeiffer scored at least one run through the six innings they were at the plate, as the Falcons came away with the 15-1 victory to close out the afternoon. 

Marciano came away with a game-high eight RBI, and he was joined by Chaston Gordon and Bryan Kowalski as the three Falcons to record multiple RBI (two each). For Brevard, Joseph Nelms tallied the only RBI in the game in the third inning, as the was able to bring home Carsillo on a sacrifice fly.

Pfeiffer's most productive offensive inning came in the bottom of the third as the team scored four runs, highlighted by Marciano's three-run homer.

Brevard and Pfeiffer will close out their three-game series with a game tomorrow, with first pitch set to be thrown at 1 p.m.
