Tornados Drop Both Games of Doubleheader

BREVARD, N.C.- Brevard returned to the diamond at Gil Coan Field on Tuesday afternoon, where they suffered two setbacks against N.C. Wesleyan (14-5 in game one, 6-1 in game two).

Mikey Mejias, Joseph Nelms, Christian Ezzell, Ryan Williams, Dayne Homesly and Ryan Roon all picked up one RBI in the two games today, as Nelms continues to lead the team in RBI on the season (five).

In the second game, Drake Black recorded his third complete game of the season, as the senior struck out eight Bishops while allowing only three earned runs in the 6-1 setback. Black leads the Tornados with 30 K's on the 2018 campaign.

Brevard (2-8) was able to take the second game into extra innings after losing 14-5 in the first game of the afternoon, but N.C. Wesleyan (8-4) was able to rattle off five runs in the top of the eight inning to earn the doubleheader sweep.

The Tornados took the 1-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning when Roon notched a base hit to score Mikey Mejias from third base. Black was dominant on the mound, as the right hander only allowed one hit through the first five innings before the Battling Bishops stormed back to take the lead in extra innings.

Brevard will return home for a three-game series with Maryville, with a doubleheader on March 3rd as the first game is set to start at noon.
