Rob Julian has been elevated to Associate Head Coach/Recruiting Coordinator for the Brevard College baseball program, announced Head Coach Mike Victory.

“This was an easy decision and a great move for our program,” commented Coach Victory. “Much of the growth and success of this program in the last three years can be traced back to the tireless efforts of Coach Julian. His drive to see this program reach its peak is unparalleled. He is more than ready for an expanded role within our program.”

Julian has been an instrumental part of the turnaround of the BC baseball program, which enjoyed its most successful season since 2012. Brevard won 21 games overall in 2021 for the program's first 20-plus win season since 2012, while its 13 home victories at Gil Coan Field were its second-most in the NCAA era. Brevard ranked top-10 nationally as a team with 116 stolen bases and set program NCAA-era team records for on-base percentage (.413), fewest strikeouts (238), sacrifice flies (25), stolen bases (116), and team fielding percentage (.959).

"I am extremely excited for this opportunity to continue to help this program grow and improve," added Coach Julian. "We have taken big steps in the past few years, but we know that the job isn't finished and we aren't satisfied. I'd like to thank Coach Victory, our staff, and all of the players, past and present, who have helped us get to this point. I can't wait to see what we accomplish."

Coach Julian, a former NCAA DIII student-athlete at Allegheny College in Meadville, Pennsylvania, works specifically with the pitching staff at Brevard. Notably under Julian’s tutelage, Brevard alumnus Huntley Hacker earned D3baseball.com All-Region honors in 2021, while Hacker (Gardner-Webb University) and fellow alum Kross Robinson (UNC-Greensboro) each grad transferred to NCAA DI programs following graduation. Additionally under Julian’s guidance, recent BC graduate Matthew Scavotto eclipsed the 100-career strikeout threshold, while the program has earned several USA South Pitcher of the Week and Rookie Pitcher of the Week accolades.

Julian will enter his fourth season with the BC baseball program in 2022-23. Prior to arriving at BC, Julian spent two seasons as the Graduate Assistant Coach at NJCAA Mercyhurst University North East in North East, Pennsylvania in addition to four seasons as a pitcher at Allegheny.

Over the course of Julian's two years with the Mercyhurst University North East Saints, he worked primarily with the pitching staff while assisting in the team's recruiting operations. Under Julian's assistance, the Saints appeared in two NJCAA Division II-Region III tournaments. The Saints also achieved numerous individual accomplishments under Julian's tutelage. Mercyhurst North East had seven players named All-Conference, nine players named All-Region, as well as having one student-athlete named an NJCAA All-American and OCCAC Player of the Year in the 2018 season. The Saints' pitching staff ranked top-10 in the NJCAA in strikeouts per nine innings under Julian's guidance.

As a student-athlete at Allegheny College, Julian was a four-year starting pitcher on the Gators' pitching staff from 2014-17. He was selected to the 2015 North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) All-Conference team. During Julian's senior campaign, he ranked near the top of the country in fewest walks per nine innings (0.79).

A native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Julian attended Montour High School before obtaining a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics in 2017 before earning his Master of Science degree in Organizational Leadership from Mercyhurst University in 2019.
