Tornado Cross Country Competes at Bulldog Stampede

Wingate, N.C. - The Brevard College Men's and Women's Cross Country teams competed Saturday at the Bulldog Stampede hosted by Wingate University.
 
The Brevard men's team finished fifth out of seven teams in the event.  Wingate won the team men's competition with Benedict finishing second.
 
Individually, Gavin Morgan led the way for the Tornados with a 13th place finish out of 52 total runners.  Morgan ran the 8K race in a time of 28:51.
 
BC's Michael Anton finished 25th with an 8K time of 30:53.  George Dowis (33rd, 34:12), Benjamin Skidmore (35th, 34:16) and Hudson New (36th, 34:42) all finished within 30 seconds of each other to round out the Tornado finishers.
 
On the women's side, four Tornado runners competed in the 6K event. Hannah Spear was the fastest Tornado with a time of 31:18, good for a 25th place finish out of 49 total runners.  
 
Molly Brown ran a 34:37 to finish in 33rd place.  Emilie Abbott (39th, 37:10) and Caitlyn Cloud-Morton (45th, 40:01) also finished for the Tornados.
 
The Brevard College Men's and Women's Cross Country teams return to action on Saturday, Sept. 29 at the Maryville College Invitational in Maryville, Tenn.
