Tornados Head to USA South Championships

BREVARD, N.C. – The Brevard College cross country team treks to Tallulah Falls, Ga., to participate in the 2017 USA South Championships at Tallulah Falls School Farm Course.

The women take to the course first at 11 a.m., taking part in the 6k race, followed by the men's 8k event that is scheduled for 12 p.m.

"With this being Hassan Kiprono's last cross country meet we are especially excited and optimistic for a strong finish from him," said head coach Mike McClaran. "As a team overall we are confident about a strong representation. The team has worked hard all season and this will just be a way to showcase their efforts. "

The Tornados' last competition took place on Oct. 7, at the Piedmont Invitational where the men's team finished seventh. Kiprono posted his second top 10 outing of the season, finishing seventh in the race.

Kiprono finished the course in a time of 27:53.27, edging out Joey Teachout (Anderson) for his best finish this season. Sophomore Michael Anton also had a solid outing for the Tornados, crossing the line in 15th in a time of 28:45.48. He was followed by teammates Jose Bravini (32:37.40; 33rd), Dal Davis (40:31.98' 59) and Michael Terry (42:15.86).

Kaitlin Chaump paced the Brevard women's team with a time of 28:00.94, finishing in 35thMolly Brown followed her teammate just over two minutes later (30:29.20), in 44th, ahead of teammate Mary Gray Davis who came in 52nd in a time of 33:00.60.
