Abbie Parde has been named Interim Head Volleyball Coach at Brevard College, announced Director of Athletics Myranda Nash. Parde steps into the role with the departure of Anna Grant who was at the helm of the BC Volleyball program for the past seven years.
“Very quickly, Coach Parde has displayed the ability to step into this new role and to guide the Tornado volleyball program this Fall,” said Nash. “We also thank Coach Grant for her outstanding service to Brevard College and her mentorship to so many student-athletes over these past seven years.”
Brevard College placed a school-record 167 student-athletes on the USA South Academic All-Conference Team for the 2021-22 academic year.
BC’s 167 academic all-conference selections shatters the previous record of 129 set in 2020-21. Brevard is among the top-five schools in the USA South in total number of honorees, joining Piedmont University (215 honorees), Huntingdon College (199 honorees), Southern Virginia University (197 honorees), and Methodist University (158 honorees) in the top-five of USA South Conference institutions.
The Brevard College Volleyball program has released its schedule for the upcoming 2022 schedule of competition.

The Brevard College Department of Athletics hosted the 2021-22 BESPYs, the college’s annual Athletic Awards ceremony on Monday, April 25 at the Boshamer Gymnasium. It marked the first in-person BESPYs awards banquet since the Spring of 2019.

Kaitlyn Pressley, a versatile sophomore from Brevard, turned in a clutch performance for the Tornados on the offensive end, totaling a game-high 19 kills while adding nine assists. Freshman outside hitter Ashley Hoxit added nine kills with Makenna Parkins totaling seven kills to help pace the Tornado offense. Logan Priddy, a freshman setter from Greensboro, North Carolina, dished out a game-high 25 assists while adding 12 digs on the defensive end for a double-double – the second of her collegiate career. Bailey Lance, a defensive specialist from nearby Mills River, North Carolina, totaled 26 digs to go along with a career-high seven service aces for Brevard.

The Tornados defeated Wesleyan (1-12, 0-6 USAS,) 3-1, (25-23, 25-17, 20-25, 25-18) in a neutral site affair to cap off the tri-match. In the first match of the day for the Tornados, host Covenant (12-6, 6-1 USAS) topped BC, 3-0, (25-8, 25-17, 25-10).
The Brevard College volleyball team (4-13, 3-3 USAS) picked up a USA South Conference victory on Wednesday evening, sweeping Agnes Scott College (1-14, 1-5 USAS), 3-0, at the Boshamer Gymnasium. The Tornados took the first set, 25-21, before dominating set number two 25-14. BC closed out the match with a 25-16 set three victory, completing the sweep over the Scotties.

The Tornados fell is set one 25-23, before dropping set two 25-15 to fall behind 2-0. The Bruins won the match with a 25-17 victory in set number three.

Noah Reisig has been named Assistant Athletic Trainer at Brevard College, announced Head Athletic Trainer Liz Kelley. Reisig, who begins his duties at BC immediately, will work specifically with the sports of Men’s Lacrosse, Men’s Soccer, Men’s and Women’s Cross Country/Track & Field, and Volleyball.

The Tornados are slated to begin play at 10 a.m. as Brevard takes on Huntingdon. The Hawks and Berea Mountaineers will face off at 12 p.m. before Brevard finishes the tri-match against Berea at 2 p.m.

Day two of the USA South Conference Crossover Volleyball Tournament concluded Saturday with host Brevard (1-8) dropping its two matches vs. visiting Pfeiffer and William Peace. In total Brevard College hosted ten matches over the two days pitting conference members from the East and West Divisions of the USA South.

The Tornados rallied back from an early deficit to defeat fellow USA South Conference opponent LaGrange College (0-2), 3-2, before a 3-0 defeat to Willamette University (3-2).
