Tornados Fall Twice in Berea

BEREA, Ky. - The Brevard College Volleyball team (0-16, 0-2 USAS) fell in a pair of matches on Saturday in a tri-match hosted by Berea College in Berea, Kentucky.  

The Tornados were highly competitive with the home squad of Berea (7-9) in Brevard's second match of the day, despite losing 3-0 in sets.

Berea topped Brevard 30-28 in set one, followed by a 25-18 victory in set two and a tight 27-25 outcome in the third set.

Freshman Breanna O'Shields led the Tornados on the offensive end with 11 kills to go along with seven kills by Julie McGahy
In the first match of the day.  Setter Hannah Gordon registered 18 assists to facilitate the Brevard attack, while libero Mariana Rodriguez recorded a team-high 19 digs.

In the deciding third set, O'Shields and fellow freshman Sarah Hutchens delivered back-to-back kills off Gordon assists to take a 25-24 lead. Berea however responded with three straight points to clinch the set and the match.

In the early match of the day. Maryville (13-6) won 3-0 (25-10, 25-7, 25-12) over Brevard. 

Brevard next travels to Demorest, Georgia for USA South Conference matches vs. Agnes Scott and Covenant on Saturday, October 12.
