GREENSBORO, N.C. - Junior Raley Shirey and freshman Breanna O'Shields led the attack for the Tornados with five kills apiece as the Brevard College Volleyball team (0-10) fell in straight sets, 3-0 to the Guilford Quakers (8-3) in a non-conference match on Friday evening in Greensboro, N.C.

Friday's matchup was a rematch of a September 7 contest where the Quakers defeated the Tornados in straight sets at the Boshamer Gymnasium in Brevard, N.C.

Sophomore Mariana Rodriguez led Brevard with 15 digs, while junior Hannah Gordon dished out 13 assists.

Guilford's Jasmine Gaines racked up 12 kills to lead the Quaker attack. Two Quakers - Tina Eucker (22 assists) and Jenna Myer (12 assists) - finished with double digit assists.

Guilford flexed a potent offensive attack, as the Quakers racked up 46 kills to the Tornados' 14.

The Quakers wasted no time in set number one, jumping out to a quick 6-1 lead. Guilford led by as many as seven points at 20-13 before the Tornados made a late charge, cutting the Quaker lead to three points at 20-17. A Gaines kill for Guilford clinched the first set, 25-20.

Following an O'shields kill and a Guilford attack error, set number two was tied up at 3-3 before the Quakers strung together seven-straight points to take a 10-3 lead. Brevard cut the advantage to five, 15-10, but couldn't slice further into the lead as the Quakers took the second set, 25-13.

Guilford asserted itself with four-straight points to open the third set. The Quakers used two separate six-point scoring streaks in set number three to cruise to a 25-11 set win, clinching the match.

The Tornados are back in action tomorrow for a tri-match hosted by Randolph College in Lynchburg, Va. Brevard faces USA South member Greensboro College at 2 p.m., followed by a match against host Randolph at 4 p.m.
