BREVARD, N.C. – The Brevard College Women's Volleyball team (0-16, 0-7 USA South) were defeated in four sets by USA South Conference foe Covenant (8-10, 6-1) on Saturday afternoon at the Boshamer Gymnasium. The Tornados won the second set over the Scots, but ultimately fell in the match.
Covenant won the first set 25-12, but the Tornados stormed back with an impressive 25-19 win in set number two. Covenant then win the third set 25-13 to take a 2-1 lead heading into set number four.
The Tornados and Scots battled it out throughout what proved to be the decisive fourth set. Covanant would win the fourth set 28-26 to take the match.
Sydney Fox led the Tornados offensively with 13 kills to go along with ten digs on the defensive end. Hannah Jenkins also recorded double-digit kills with 10 winners herself on the attacking end.
Defensively, Jordan Lloyd and Mariana Rodriguez led the Tornados as each player recorded 21 digs, Lloyd also was a significant force at the net with seven kills. Setter Hannah Gordon continued to set up her teammates with 27 assists for the match.
Brevard returns to action with a road match at Piedmont on Wednesday, October 10 at 7 p.m. in Demorest, Georgia.
