BREVARD, N.C. – The Brevard volleyball team treks to Maryville, Tenn., for a pair of matches with LaGrange and the host Scots on Saturday.

The Tornados (10-6) take the court at 2 p.m. against LaGrange and follow with a match against Maryville at 4 p.m.

The three teams faced off in a tri-match earlier this season, in Brevard, with the Tornados emerging victorious over LaGrange (25-17, 25-23, 25-18) before suffering a three-set setback to Maryville (28-26, 25-20, 25-10) on Sept. 30.

One win by Brevard this weekend would solidify a winning record, with four matches remaining this season, the first since the 2007 campaign when it finished 16-15. With two victories this weekend it would tie for the most wins (12) in a season by the Tornados in the three-year tenure under Anna Grant.

The Tornados' offensive success this season can be credited due to the combination of Hannah Elmore, who leads the team with 170 kills (2.98 kills/set), Stephanie Lambert (146 kills), Rachel Ruble (115 kills) and Josie McElroy (523 assists).

Brevard's defense, which is limiting teams to a .125 hitting percentage, is highlighted by Maggie Weiss (317 digs; 5.56 digs/set), Ruble (26 total blocks) and Whitney DeMoss (25 total blocks; nine solo blocks).

LaGrange (10-11) has split its six matches in October, suffering a pair of 3-0 setbacks in recent outings against Piedmont and Covenant on Oct. 14. The Panthers are led statistically by Emily Arnold (185 kills), Lauren Sanders (335 assists), Amanda Beatty (221 digs) and Jazzlyn Kenner (71 total blocks / 27 solo blocks).

Maryville (12-10) moved over the .500 mark after posting consecutive wins over Emory & Henry and Agnes Scott last week. The Scots, who host Berea on Friday night, head into the weekend led individually by Nia Haller (192 kills), Saidee McDaniel (481 assists), Kaitlyn Flickinger (337 digs) and Arin Wyttenbach (35 total blocks / 10 solo blocks).
