Brevard Set to Host Agnes Scott in Mid-Week Clash

BREVARD, N.C. – The Brevard College volleyball team returns to action on Wednesday when it welcomes Agnes Scott to Boshamer Gym for a match set to begin at 6 p.m.

It is the first of three home matches for the Tornados this week, who face Wesleyan and Covenant on Saturday afternoon in a tri-match.

Brevard (7-3) has won four of its last five matches, splitting a series with LaGrange and Maryville on Sept. 30. Two of those wins, versus Berea and LaGrange, came by virtue of a sweep.

The senior trio of Rachel Ruble (95), Hannah Elmore (86) and Stephanie Lambert (85) are Brevard's individual leaders in kills. Joined by classmate and setter Josie McElroy, who has handed out a team-high 318 assists, they have helped the Tornados to accrue 379 kills (11.15 kills/set).

Maggie Weiss is making an impact on the Brevard defense, as she leads the unit with 202 digs (5.94 digs/set), helping limit opponents to a .130 attack percentage. While Weiss anchors the back row, the combination of Lambert (17 total blocks), Whitney DeMoss (16) and Ruble (15) have stonewalled opponents with 44 total blocks.

Agnes Scott (5-11) enters the match looking to get itself back on track after suffering a series of setbacks to Huntingdon and Covenant on Sept. 30.

The Scotties are led individually by Resa Knott (137 kills), Paige Heck (123 kills) and Anna Tomkins (454 assists) on offense. Agnes Scott is averaging 9.50 kills/set, while the opposition has 663 kills and a .170 attack percentage against them.

Defensively the Scotties are led by the combination of Bella Kammerer (281 digs) and Alexis Smith (38 total blocks).
