Brevard Takes Three-Match Winning Streak into Weekend Clashes

BREVARD, N.C. – The Brevard College volleyball team puts its three-match winning streak on the line Saturday afternoon when the Tornados head to Emory, Va., for a series of matches against Washington & Lee and Emory & Henry.

Brevard, who posted a five-set win on Wednesday evening at Salem, takes to the court against Washington & Lee at 1 p.m. The Tornados quickly follow with a match against host Emory & Henry at 3 p.m.

The Tornados extended their winning streak to three behind a pair of standout performances by Stephanie Lambert and Maggie Weiss as they downed Salem by scores of 25-23, 25-17, 22-25, 22-25 and 15-13.

Lambert, responsible for a match-high 23 kills, was joined in double figures by Hannah Elmore and Rachel Ruble, who added 10 strikes apiece, as Brevard tallied 60 kills in the match and improved to 3-1 overall on the season. Meanwhile, the combination of Weiss (31 digs), Kasey West (21), Bri Vargas (20) and Josie McElroy (17) led the way for a Tornado defense that recorded 122 digs.

Following her 23-kill outing, Lambert catapulted herself to the team lead in kills (45) at a pace of 3.21 kills/set. She is followed closely by Rachel Ruble (34 kills; 2.43 kills/set) and Hannah Elmore (30 kills; 2.14 kills/set).

Weiss guides the way for the Brevard back row with 66 digs (4.71 digs/set), while the combination of Kasey West and Bri Vargas have contributed 31 kills, respectively. Lambert highlights the front row with 11 total blocks (10 assisted), with Whitney DeMoss responsible for five assisted blocks.
