Women’s Tennis Defeats Maryville 6-3 in Knoxville

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Brevard College women's tennis team (2-4, 2-2 USAS) took a 6-3 decision against host Maryville College (2-3, 2-3 USAS) on Sunday evening at Tyson Park in Knoxville, Tennessee.

The victory improves the Tornados to a .500 record in USA South Conference play.

Doubles pairings of Alli Kogoy/Hamrick Perry and Sarah Iocovozzi/Brooke Garland claimed no. 2 and 3 doubles victories to give Brevard the early 2-1 match edge. The quartet of Garland, Iocovozzzi, Kogoy, and Perry then turned in singles triumphs to seal the team dual match victory for the Tornados.

Kogoy and Perry teamed up for an 8-5 victory in the number-two doubles spot, 8-5, while Garland and Iocovozzi swept their number-three doubles, 8-0. BC's Jen Cox and Lily Farr paired up in the top-flight doubles slot, falling in a tight matchup, 8-4.

In singles play, Kogoy claimed a 6-1, 6-2 decision in no. 2 singles, while Perry earned a 6-1, 6-0 triumph in the number-four spot. Iocovozzi and Garland's singles victories in no. 5 and 6 singles play wrapped up the conference triumph for Brevard.

The Tornados are scheduled to return to action on Wednesday, April 14 when BC travels to LaGrange, Georgia for a doubleheader vs. LaGrange College at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Brevard's senior day is scheduled to take place on Saturday, April 17 at the McCoy Tennis Complex vs. Agnes Scott College.
