MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Junior Samantha Sepe picked up singles and doubles victories at the number-one spot for the Brevard College Tornados Women's Tennis team (12-5, 6-1 USAS), who fell for the first time in two months on Saturday afternoon to the Huntingdon Hawks (13-3, 7-1 USAS), 7-2.
The Hawks took two-of-three doubles matches before grabbing five singles matches to total their seven points.
Despite battling illness, Sepe claimed a three-set thriller over Huntingdon's Josie Waddel. Sepe glided through set one, 6-1, before falling narrowly in the second set, 3-6. In the third set tiebreaker, Sepe stormed to a 10-6 decision to claim her 11th singles victory in a row.
Sepe teamed up with senior Kelsey Kushner to defeat Huntingdon's duo of Waddel and Zaya Robinson in a slim, 8-6 final in no. 1 doubles.
Huntingdon's Kayce Howard clinched Saturday's match with a no. 3 singles match victory.
The Tornados, who currently have their highest win total as a program since the 2011-12 season and are coming off a win streak that tied the program NCAA-era record for consecutive match wins, turn their attention to their regular season finale.
Brevard will face Piedmont College (15-4, 7-0 USAS) at the McCoy Tennis Complex on Tuesday, April 16 at 3 p.m. in a key USA South matchup.
