BREVARD, N.C. – Senior student-athletes Kelsey Kushner and Darden King won their singles and doubles matches en route to the Brevard College Women's Tennis team (11-4, 5-0 USAS) defeating the Covenant College Scots (5-10, 2-2 USAS), 6-3, on Senior Day at the McCoy Tennis Complex.

The Tornados pushed their win streak to nine matches as Brevard continues to roll through USA South Conference play. Brevard's nine-match win streak has catapulted the program to heights not reached in nearly eight seasons and is the longest such streak since 2009-10 and 2010-11 BC Tornados Women's Tennis teams also won nine-straight matches.

One more match victory will tie the Brevard College NCAA-era record for the longest win streak, which was set during the program's first season of NCAA competition in 2008-09 (10 matches).

The Tornados took two out of three doubles matches before securing wins in no. 1, 2, 3, and 6 singles spots.

BC's no. 1 doubles duo Samantha Sepe and Kushner cruised to an 8-2 win that was coupled with a no. 2 doubles victory by King and Jen Cox. Sepe and Kushner secured their eighth doubles victory, with all triumphs coming in the number-one spot. King and Cox also have claimed eight victories in doubles, as Saturday's win improved their 2018-19 record to eight wins and three losses.

BC's no. 3 doubles squad fell in close, 8-5 fashion to round out Saturday's doubles competition.

Sepe (no. 1), Kushner (no. 2), and King (no. 3) cruised to victories in their singles matches against the Scots. King's 6-2, 6-0 victory over Covenant's Margo Koby proved to be the match-clincher for the Tornados' Senior Day victory.

Freshman Eleanor Flannery improved her singles record to 11 wins and one loss in 2018-19 as she trumped Covenant's Anna Logan. The two battled through the first set, as Flannery claimed the set 7-6 thanks to a 7-3 tiebreaker. The freshman from Mulberry, Fla. then coasted, 6-2, in the second set for the victory.

Brevard rounds out its schedule with a big road trip next weekend followed by its season-finale at home.

BC Women's Tennis hits the road on Friday, April 12 to square off against the LaGrange College Panthers (5-5, 2-2 USAS) at 4 p.m. before facing Huntingdon College (8-2, 4-0 USAS) on Saturday, April 13 at 1 p.m. ET.
