  • Brevard College Athletics Announces Inaugural BC Athletics Tornado Club Auction

    The Brevard College Department of Athletics is pleased to announce its inaugural BC Athletics Tornado Club Auction. The online silent auction was made available on Monday, August 1 at 8 a.m. and runs until Wednesday, August 21 at 8 a.m., the date of the 11th annual BC Tornados Open held at the Lake Toxaway Country Club. 
  • Quartet of Tornados Women’s Tennis Players Named ITA All-Academic Scholar Athletes

    Brevard College Women’s Tennis student-athletes Carmen Boone, Margaret Correll, and Eleanor Flannery – along with BC alumna Kelsey Kushner – were named Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s (ITA) All-Academic Scholar-Athlete honorees. The announcement adds to Brevard College Athletics’ impressive summer of academic awards.

  • 91 Brevard College Student-Athletes Named USA South Academic All-Conference

    The USA South Conference on Friday morning released its annual USA South Academic All-Conference list, selecting 91 Brevard College student-athletes as Academic All-Conference selections. Additionally, 18 student-athletes collected “With Distinction” Academic All-Conference honors, accruing at least a 3.9 grade point average in both the Fall and Spring semesters.
  • Sepe, Kushner, and Correll Earn Conference, Divisional, and Sportsmanship Honors Following Record-Breaking Regular Season

    Following the conclusion of a record-breaking 2018-19 regular season for the Brevard College Tornados Women’s Tennis program, BC student-athletes Samantha Sepe, Kelsey Kushner, and Margaret Correll earned conference honors.  Sepe was named to the USA South Women’s Tennis All-Conference First Team along with a selection as First Team West Division. Kushner was named to the Second Team West Division, while Correll was placed on the USA South Women’s Tennis All-Sportsmanship Team. 
  • Sepe Continues Dominance with 12th Straight Singles Win in Regular Season Finale

    Reigning USA South Conference Player of the Week Samantha Sepe continued her dominance with wins in both singles and doubles as the Brevard College Women’s Tennis team (12-6, 6-2 USASS) dropped the team competition 7-2 to conference leaders Piedmont (16-4, 8-0 USAS) on Tuesday afternoon at the McCoy Tennis Complex.  The match marked the regular season finale for the Brevard College Women’s Tennis team. Sepe defeated Caroline Connelly 6-0, 6-1 in number one singles to emphatically avenge a three-set loss to Connelly in their first meeting on Feb. 25 at Piedmont.  With the win, Sepe closed out the 2019 regular season with 12 straight wins in singles play.  Over the 12-match streak, Sepe dropped just one set and started the streak with eight straight 6-0, 6-0 wins not dropping a single game.
  • Samantha Sepe Crowned USA South Women’s Tennis Player of the Week

    After extending her singles win streak to 11 matches and helping the Brevard College Tornados Women’s Tennis team cap off the program’s longest win streak in 10 years, junior Samantha Sepe was selected as the USA South Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Week. The junior from Niceville, Florida earned a 2-0 record at both the top singles and doubles spots last week for the Tornados. Sepe collected singles wins over opponents from USA South foes LaGrange and Huntingdon. In doubles, Sepe teamed with Kelsey Kushner to earn the two wins.
  • Samantha Sepe Wins Number-One Singles Match in Team Setback

    Junior Samantha Sepe picked up singles and doubles victories at the number-one spot for the Brevard College Tornados Women’s Tennis team (12-5, 6-1 USAS), who fell for the first time in two months on Saturday afternoon to the Huntingdon Hawks (13-3, 7-1 USAS), 7-2.  The Hawks took two-of-three doubles matches before grabbing five singles matches to total their seven points.  Despite battling illness, Sepe claimed a three-set thriller over Huntingdon’s Josie Waddel. Sepe glided through set one, 6-1, before falling narrowly in the second set, 3-6. In the third set tiebreaker, Sepe stormed to a 10-6 decision to claim her 11th singles victory in a row. 
  • Women’s Tennis’ Win Streak Matches Program NCAA-Era Record with 6-3 Victory at LaGrange

    The Brevard College Tornados Women’s Tennis team (12-4, 6-0 USAS) matched the longest winning streak in the program’s NCAA-era history (2008-09, 10 matches) by claiming its 10th-consecutive victory on Friday afternoon. The Tornados defeated the LaGrange Panthers (5-7, 2-4 USAS), 6-3, in LaGrange, Georgia.  Brevard improved to an undefeated 6-0 mark in USA South Conference play. 
  • Women’s Tennis Claims 6-3 Senior Day Victory over Covenant

    Senior student-athletes Kelsey Kushner and Darden King won their singles and doubles matches en route to the Brevard College Women’s Tennis team (11-4, 5-0 USAS) defeating the Covenant College Scots (5-10, 2-2 USAS), 6-3, on Senior Day at the McCoy Tennis Complex. The Tornados pushed their win streak to nine matches as Brevard continues to roll through USA South Conference play. Brevard’s nine-match win streak has catapulted the program to heights not reached in nearly eight seasons and is the longest such streak since 2009-10 and 2010-11 BC Tornados Women’s Tennis teams also won nine-straight matches. One more match victory will tie the Brevard College NCAA-era record for the longest win streak, which was set during the program’s first season of NCAA competition in 2008-09 (10 matches).
  • Hot Start Helps BC Women’s Tennis Earn Eighth-Straight Victory

    The Brevard College Tornados Women’s Tennis team (10-4, 4-0 USAS) earned their eighth-consecutive victory of the 2018-19 campaign by downing the Scots of Maryville College (4-7, 2-2 USAS), 6-3, on Wednesday afternoon in Maryville, Tennessee. Brevard swept through singles to begin the match before jumping out to victories in no. 1, 2, and 3 singles for the conference victory.
  • Brevard’s Win Streak Reaches Seven Matches with 8-0 Win over Agnes Scott

    The Brevard College Tornados Women’s Tennis team (9-4, 3-0 USAS) continued the program’s longest winning streak its the last eight seasons by taking an 8-0 victory against Agnes Scott (0-9, 0-3 USAS) on Saturday afternoon at the McCoy Tennis Complex. 
  • Women’s Tennis Continues Win Streak with 7-2 Win Against the Royals

    The Brevard College Tornados Women’s Tennis team (8-4) continued its winning ways by claiming its sixth-straight victory by defeating Johnson University (2-10), 7-2, at the McCoy Tennis Complex on a chilly Tuesday afternoon in Brevard, N.C.  Tuesday’s matinee saw brand new doubles pairings for the Tornados, which Brevard swept through. 
  • Tornados Sweep Wesleyan to Extend Win Streak to Five Matches

    The Brevard College Tornados Women’s Tennis team (7-4, 2-0 USAS) won its fifth-straight as it swept the Wesleyan College Wolves (0-4, 0-3 USAS), 9-0, on Saturday afternoon at the McCoy Tennis Complex.  Samantha Sepe (no. 1 singles), Margaret Correll (no. 5 singles), and Eleanor Flannery (no. 6 singles) didn’t drop a single point in their singles matches en route to BC’s dominant victory over Wesleyan. With the victory, Flannery remains undefeated in singles action as a Tornado. 
  • Tornados Claim Fourth-Straight Victory in Hard-Fought Match Against Maryville

    Senior student-athlete Darden King claimed a No. 3 singles victory, 6-2, 6-2, to clinch a 5-4 match win for the Brevard College Tornados Women’s Tennis team (6-4) against the Maryville Scots (1-5) at the McCoy Tennis Complex on Wednesday afternoon.  The Tornados took two out of three doubles matches before splitting singles with the Scots to earn the 5-4 victory. The duos of Samantha Sepe / Kelsey Kushner and King / Jen Cox won doubles, while Sepe, King, and Margaret Correll proved victorious in singles. 
  • Brevard Sweeps Berea in Dominant Fashion

    The Brevard College Women's Tennis team (5-4, 1-0 USAS) won its USA South Conference opener in resounding fashion with a 9-0 win over host Berea on Saturday afternoon at the Wilson Evans Tennis Complex in Berea, Kentucky. The Tornados did not lose a set en route to winning all nine matches on the day.

    Eleanor Flannery remained undefeated as a collegiate to highlight a dominant outing for the Brevard College Tornados Women's Tennis team (4-4), who defeated the Spartanburg Methodist College Pioneers, 8-1, at the McCoy Tennis Complex on Thursday afternoon.  The Tornados return to the .500 mark at 4-4, while improving to an undefeated 3-0 record within the confines of the McCoy Tennis Complex.

    Junior Kelsey Kushner picked up a close No. 2 singles victory as the Brevard College Tornados Women’s Tennis team (2-4) fell 8-1 to the Piedmont College Lions on Monday afternoon. 
  • BC Women’s Tennis Claims 7-2 Victory over Meredith in Home-Opener

    The Brevard College Tornados Women’s Tennis team (2-3) collected a 7-2 win over the Meredith Avenging Angels (0-3) to open its Spring home slate on Sunday afternoon at the McCoy Tennis Complex on the campus of Brevard College. The Tornados claimed a well-deserved victory against a Meredith side that made the 2018 USA South Women’s Tennis Tournament. The Tornados swept through doubles play in resounding fashion while picking up four singles victories to secure their second victory of the season. Every Tornado who took the court on Sunday picked up a victory in either singles or doubles action.

    Freshman Eleanor Flannery picked up both victories for Brevard College Women’s Tennis (1-3) in its spring season opener at Southern Wesleyan. The Tornados fell by a final of 6-1 at the NCAA DII institution.

    The Brevard College Tornados Women's Tennis team began the fall portion of its schedule on Saturday, October 6 with a doubleheader in Spartanburg, S.C. The Tornados squared off with the host institution Converse College before facing Johnson C. Smith.
