Brevard Posts 7-2 Win Over Mountaineers

BREVARD, N.C. – The Brevard women's tennis team capped off the 2017-18 season with a 7-2 win over visiting Berea on Sunday, bringing to an end the careers of Katie Hatter and Christiana Beltran in the process.

Brevard earned all three victories in double play, including an 8-1 win by Kelsey Kushner and Jen Cox over Alicia Bedolla and Erin Goodpaster. The was quickly followed by an 8-3 triumph by the tandem of Margaret Correll and Mekenzie Bowman against Berea's Agnes Dotse and Ashley Ferrell.

Teammates Hannah Spear and Carmen Boone emerged with the final doubles win, 8-6, against Marah Ziedan and Jaden Johnson.

Correll picked up her second win of the match as she completed a 6-2, 6-4 win over Ferrell in the clash of No. 3 seeds. Dotse grabbed the first Berea win of the match, 6-4, 4-6, 10-2, against Boone, but Spear completed the team win with a 7-5, 6-4 victory against Johnson in the meeting of No. 6 seeds.

Cox grabbed her second victory of the afternoon as the Tornados' No. 2 seed downed Goodpaster 6-4, 6-1. Kushner then claimed a 6-4, 6-4 win over Bedolla, giving Brevard its sixth point of the match. Ziedan closed out the match with a 7-5, 6-4 victory against Boone to tally the second Mountaineer point.
