LAGRANGE, Ga. – Freshman Brianna Link and junior Amy Juarez scored one goal each, while junior Rebeccah Rojas kept a clean sheet through 90 minutes as the Brevard College Tornados women's soccer team (2-6-2, 1-2 USAS) defeated the LaGrange Panthers (6-6, 0-2 USAS), 1-0 to earn its first conference win of the 2019 season.

Rojas earned the victory while stopping four total shots for saves. Brevard's attack was led by Juarez and Emma White, who each recorded two shots-on-goal. Link and Jessica Tenjhay also tallied shots-on-goal in the afternoon matinee match.

Links' 14th-minute strike (third goal of 2019) came by way of an Aliyah Vaughan assist, as Vaughan played the ball in the box on a cross that connected with Link, whose header into the left side of the goal gave the Tornados an early lead, 1-0.

From there, the Tornado defense held the Panthers at bay, with LaGrange's best chances at a score coming in the 31st and 32nd minute. BC's Rojas turned away back-to-back shot attempts within a minute's time to keep her clean sheet intact.

Juarez, a junior transfer from Arlington, Va., scored in the 66th minute when sophomore Abbie Petrosky whipped in a corner kick that found Juarez's head and looped past the jumping Panther goalkeeper for the score, giving the Tornados a 2-0 advantage with 23 minutes left to play.

LaGrange had more chances at goal, letting four shots fly in the waning minutes of the contest, including one that forced a Rojas save and another that hit the post. However, the Tornados' defense held firm to clinch BC's second win of 2019 and its first victory in USA South Conference play.

Head Coach Juan Mascaro's Tornados return to action tomorrow at 4 p.m ET when Brevard visits Montgomery, Ala. for a conference test against the Huntingdon College Hawks.
