Women's Soccer Drops Conference Opener at Covenant

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. - The Brevard College women's soccer team (1-5-2, 0-1 USAS) dropped its USA South Conference opener, 2-0 on the road at Covenant (2-4-1, 1-0 USAS) Saturday afternoon in Lookout Mountain, Georgia.

Covenant scored its initial goal in the 14th minute as Kyra Duble found the back of the net on an assist by Kailey Burrell. The Scots then posted an insurance goal in the 79th minute on a score by Paige Simons, assisted by Addy Cronan.

The Tornados managed six shots in the contest with just one shot on goal. Abbie Petrosky and Brianna Link each recorded two shots to lead BC's attack. Link registered Brevard's lone shot on goal which resulted in a save by Covenant goalkeeper Lucy Sandhoff.

Rebeccah Rojas recorded seven saves and played all 90 minutes for the Tornados in goal. Rojas was active for the entire match as the Scots registered 23 shots, including nine shots on goal.

Down 1-0 in the 20th minute, Link fired a shot on goal resulting in a save for one of the best scoring opportunities for the Tornados.

Prior to Covenant scoring its second goal, BC's Emma White blasted a shot that hit the crossbar in another near-miss for the Tornados.

Brevard returns to action with a home conference match on Tuesday, October 1 at 6 p.m. vs. Piedmont College at Ives-Lemel Family Field.
