Women's Soccer Extends Win Streak Behind Late Goal From Megan Shina

DECATUR, GA.- The Brevard College Women's Soccer team (6-2-0, 2-0-0 USA South) won its fourth straight game in dramatic fashion with a 1-0 victory over host Agnes Scott (3-5-1, 0-2-0) on Saturday afternoon.

Senior Megan Shina scored the game-winning goal in the 90th minute, breaking a scoreless deadlock to give the Tornados the 1-0 victory.  With just 57 seconds left in regulation and overtime looming, Shina followed up on an initial save by Agnes Scott goalkeeper Abby Ackerson to find the back of the net on the rebound.

The unassisted goal for Shina was her seventh of the season and the 18th in her career as a Tornado.

Reigning USA South Defensive Player of the Week Hannah Weatherall recorded four saves en route to the shutout at goalkeeper.

The 1-0 final score marked the third straight shutout for the Tornado defense with Weatherall in goal for two of those three games.

Brevard outshot Agnes Scott 21-12 for the match with the Tornado defense especially stout in the first half as BC limited the Scotties to just three shots in the opening stanza.

The four-game winning streak for Head Coach Juan Mascaro's squad began on Sept. 18 with a 2-1 road conference win at Salem.  Over the four-game win streak, the Tornados have outscored their opponents 12-1.

Brevard will travel from Decatur, Ga. to Macon, Ga. for another USA South Conference match on Sunday. The Tornados will play at host Wesleyan at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
