Brevard, NC – The USA South continues to roll out their yearly preseason coaches polls for the fall sports season. The conference today announced that the Tornados women's soccer team placed 4^th in this edition of the coaches' poll. This selection comes following an impressive 2017-18 campaign out of Brevard's women's soccer team, finishing with an 11-6-1 record overall. Despite being ineligible for a conference championship last season, Brevard compiled a 9-5 record last season against teams in the USA South, which count toward regular season honors this year for the Tornados. This will be the first campaign under 3^rd year Head Coach Juan Mascaro that Brevard women's soccer will be eligible for a regular season championship, due to NCAA reclassifying to Division III.

The Tornados look up at 2017-18 co-west division champions Maryville and Piedmont. Maryville received five first-place votes in the preseason coaches' poll, while Piedmont garnered four. Covenant College was selected 3^rd in the voting, tallying 50 points compared to Brevard's 37. Rounding out the USA South's west division are Huntingdon (5^th), Agnes Scott (6^th), Wesleyan (7^th), Berea (8^th), and LaGrange (9^th). Highlighting the USA South's east division are defending champion Methodist. The Monarchs look to build off of a strong 2017-18 campaign that saw them earn a bid to the Division III NCAA tournament. The Tornados will get their first and only look at the Monarchs when the two square off September 8^th at Ives-Lemel Field in Brevard.

Brevard's women's soccer kicks off the 2018-19 campaign with two exhibition matches, one at Southern Wesleyan on August 22^nd, and a home tilt vs Montreat on August 28^th. The conference tilt begins when the Tornados play host to defending conference champion Methodist on Saturday, September 8^th.
