Brevard scores five goals in victory over Warren Wilson

BREVARD, N.C.- Brevard women's soccer scored a season-high five goals in their final match of the season in a win over Warren Wilson on Tuesday night.

The Tornados (11-6-1) tied their season high in shots recorded in a match (23), with Sallie Riggan, Caroline David, Sydney Alencewicz, and Ashley Hughes each tallying at least one goal on the match. On the defensive end Brevard only allowed three shots, and only one on goal.

Riggan began the scoring in the 14th minute, as she found the back of the net from inside the box off the assist from Megan Shina. The goal was Riggan's second of the season, and Shina's second assist of 2017.

Before the end of the half in the 41st minute, David notched her third goal of the year to make the score 2-0 at halftime.

In the 56th minute, Alencewicz scored her first goal of the match from inside the box to increase the Tornado lead.

Alencewicz's next goal came by way of a header off the assist from David to make the score 4-0. Alencewicz finishes the season with eight goals.

Warren Wilson would answer on offense in the 78th minute, with Sierra Bell scoring on a free kick from 32 yards out to make the score 4-1.

In the 83rd minute Ashley Hughes scored the final goal of the match, off a deflected ball from her own miss by goalkeeper Katie Milde.

Brevard finished the season with 11 wins, the most victories since the program moved to the NCAA ranks in 2008.
