Brevard shuts out Wesleyan, earns 10th victory

BREVARD, N.C.- Brevard women's soccer earned their 10th win of the season Sunday afternoon by downing Wesleyan 3-0.

The Tornados played another match with stifling defense, as they held the Wolves to just four shots on the afternoon while shutting out their opponent for the seventh time this season. On offense, Megan Shina scored two goals while Sallie Riggan added another on the match.

Riggan opened the scoring in the 20th minute, as she scored off an assist from Caroline David to record her first goal of 2017.

In the final seconds of the first half, Shina scored her first goal of the match off an assist from Sydney Alencewicz to make the score 2-0.

Brevard's final goal came in the 61st minute as Shina found the back of the net off an assist from Wren Cedergren to increase the lead to three. The two goals helped Shina reach 23 total points on the season, which leads the team.

Brevard will return to action on October 28th, as they will host Shaw at noon at Ives-Lemel Field.
