Brevard records fifth shutout of the season in win over LaGrange

LaGRANGE, Ga.- Brevard women's soccer had another stout defensive performance in a 2-0 victory over LaGrange Friday afternoon.

The Tornados allowed only two shots the entire match and none in the second half, while Rebeccah Rojas recorded two saves in her return to the starting goalkeeper position. On offense, Sydney Alencewicz scored her fourth goal of the season and Ashley Hughes notched her second goal of 2017 in the win over the Panthers.

Alencewicz opened the scoring in the 19th minute, as she buried a shot off an assist from Natalie Pack. Brevard recorded eight shots in the first half, with five shots on goal.

Ashley Jacobson and Angela Kaye were the two Panthers to record a shot in the match, and both shots were turned away by Rojas in the first half.

With the match entering the final minutes, Hughes found the back of the net in the 89th minute to make the score 2-0.

Brevard will return to action Saturday afternoon against Huntingdon in Montgomery, Ala.
